S: Aroma is of malts and orange peels.

T: Taste is nice rich malts with some orange zest and floral touches in there.

M: Mouthfeel is of medium bodied dry and lightly carbed.

O: Overall a decent beer with a solid backbone. Well worth the money.

I picked this up as a part of a mix-a-six at Giant in Linglestown PA, poured chilled into a mug.

The color is deep amber with tranparent clarity and off white cream with tight bead and no lace. The smell is not very impressive, it has a slight skunky hop nose probably from the green glass bottle and it overpowers the mildly bready undertones. The feel is malty with highly carbonated and semi-slick diacetyl texture with dry finish and semi spicy feel.

The Pils has a taste that is mineral and toasted with slight creamy element from yeast and possibly carbonation with subtle yeast dryness after the swallow with some spiciness from the hops in the finish. Overall I was bit underwhelmed as the beer was overwhelmed by the skunkiness it suffers a lot as a result of this and is marginally drinkable as a result. I would pass unless I saw it on tap somewhere.

Pours a pale straw golden color with some darker orange hues that help it not look like piss. Very clear, think American macro only slightly darker. The head is the only reason it scored as well as it did because it's a brilliant with, a couple fingers thick with a lot of different sized bubbles. Really nice retention, with a medium sticky lace when all is said and done.

I'm not a fan of the look, the smell or the style. It's classic American macro with an earthy, dirty Czech hop scent. Again, not a fan of this at all. However, if you really let your nose dig deep, there is a lingering citric note hiding in the depths that makes this tolerable.

Not sure how Czech beer ever became popular, but this matches the style. It's not something I care for, but it is what it is. Being an old school lager, it's almost devoid of taste. If anything, there's a crackery taste.

It's dry and has an earthy, flowery bitterness to it. Complete lack of sweetness, though as it warms it tries. Somewhat smooth.

It's not the worst thing I've ever had, but it's certainly nowhere near the best, even for a Czech beer. Fairly easy to drink if you can get past the smell and lack of flavor.

A finger and half of head on a clear, medium straw colored body. Looks great.
The aroma is milled grain and a touch metallic.
The taste is lighter with mild lemon bitterness, bit of malt sweetness and finishes with a mild puckering bitter note. Easy to drink.
The texture is crisp with moderate carbonation.
Not amazing but worth a drink or two.

Enjoyed this 12oz bottle out of a Belgian tulip glass.

A: Pours a copper ale with a thin white head that quickly dissipates into a wispy lace.

S: Skunky funky aroma.

T: Skunky lager that is more tart and bitter than sweet.

M: Medium body and medium carbonation.

O: I should have stopped drinking this after a couple of sips – but I hoped it would get better – it didn’t.

This came in a classy and sophisticated green bottle.
The beer itself looks really nice too. It is a deep golden color with a creamy white head.
It is almost the same color as apple juice.

As far as the smell goes, Floral hops and grains come through. There is a slight skunk smell that cannot be ignored.

Sweet, malty back bone with a mild hop bitterness. However, there is a slight skunkyness in the taste that is off putting.

For a lager, this beer is full bodied. Thick, creamy and lightly carbonated. There is also an oily slickness to the mouthfeel.

Overall, this beer would be outstanding if it were not for the skunkyness.
The skunkyness was very slight, but it takes away from the enjoyment of the beer.

I would love to try this on tap.

poured into a pint glass may - 11- 2013 is stamped on it

Appearance - poured a clear golden yellow with 2 fingers of foam. bubbles came up through solution while drinking. good lacing

Aroma- apple pear slight skunkyness ( sulfur) Grassy

taste- crisp sting of carbonation gives way to a grainy corny flavor. then a slight herbal and piney hops at the end. Hoppier than american light lagers. easy drinking.

Mouthfeel- high carbonation dry and champange-y

Overall- I'm a little out of my element, I would imagine this is a descent pilsner. I would enjoy it as such. My BMC frame of reference would tell me that it is better than all of those. Its like a light lager with a better hop character and a better mouthfeel. it is definitely less filling than a lot of things i have been drinking lately. I would in fact have another. i would drink it as a lawnmower beer or i could se myself ordering it in an airport leaving Prague.

Pours a clear, pale orange with some light red at the light. One finger of off-white head lingers for a few seconds and clears off, leaving a thin line of lace around the circumference of the glass. Aroma consists of caramel, lemon, orange and a hint of dry grass, and is quite robust for a lager. There's no skunk-funk to speak of. Very dry and crisp with a splash of lemon on top of some grain. Some orange peel is also noticed. Add to all that a little sweet mixed with a little bitter and easy as Sunday morning all the way to the finish.

12 oz bottle poured into pint glass

A: Poured a dark copper color with a good fingers worth of head that settles to a thin layer with no lacing to speak of.

S: Little skunk here... very grassy with a little lemon zest mixed in.

T: Little flat on flavor.. There is skunk here... pretty grassy here with touches of graininess but not much else here.

M: Pretty crisp and well carbonated but pretty flat over all

O: Not very pilsner like to me... A little more Euro lager for my taste. Not bad if you a thirsty.

Best before 5/17/13.

Pours a clear golden color with a foamy bone colored head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Foamy swaths of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, grain, and a sweetened corn flake aroma. Taste is much the same with a mild grassy bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty average beer that is drinkable but not very exciting.

Good Czech Pilsners are difficult to produce and even more difficult to come by. Staropramen isn't one of them.

A standard pour yields a standard Pilsner body: light amber body, slightly thin, gassy head. A few scattered bubbles slowly make their way to the top.

The nose is fine, though there is a tinniness in it that can't be ignored.

The tinniness ruins the beer's taste. There are some good things going on here: The malt aroma is nice, and the bittering hops would balance it well if the tinny taste, probably yeast-produced, weren't getting in the way. Nowhere is this more apparent than in the aftertaste, in which the subtle, crisp hoppy flavors come through. Darn.

Czech Pilsners are among my favorite styles of beer. I wish that more of ones that are available in my area did justice to the style.

As Pilsner Urquell is one of my favorites; I thought I would give this Czech beer a try. It has a brassy body, lots of carbonation and a big pure white head. The aroma and flavor is in line with a Bud or PBR, but a bit more upscale. The malts have more interesting layering and likewise the hop finish is more complex. If you are in the mood for something along the lines of a PBR, but with some more sophistication, this is a good option.

From 08/30/12 notes. Had this on tap at Amity Hall in my quest to try 101 different beers there. #6/101, knew nothing about it other than it was a pilsner going into it. Served in a pint glass.

a - Pours a clear golden-amber color with one inch of bright white head and moderate carbonation evident.

s - Smells corn, floral hops, sweet grains, bread. Not bad, and the floral notes help, but a bit average.

t - Tastes of sweet corn, vegetables, sweet grains, bready malts. Taste is a little sweeter than the nose and a step down for me.

m - Light, watery body and moderate carbonation. Body is a bit too thin.

o - Overall a below average pilsner. Not a lot going on here and has some of that sweet corn and vegetable notes that reminds me of an adjunct lager. Body is thin; you could have a few of them but I wouldn't want to. Wouldn't seek it out again.

11.2 oz. Green Bottle. Freshness date printed on label

A: Golden yellow with nice carbonation. The white head
forms fast and leaves behind a nice sticky lacing.

S: Sweet malts and faint dry hops. Nice.

T/M: Similar to the smell the taste is sweet and malty
leading to a hop bitterness that finishes somewhat dry
and bitter. Crisp going down with good carbonation.

O: A very good and drinkable Czech Pilsener. Easy to
drink and an overall good experience. Taste is a little
limited compared to other newer Pilseners, especially,
ones from America.

Cheers!!

Poured from 500mL bottle into a pint glass Best before 3/26/13.

Appearance: medium golden hue with a clear body and a moderate effervescence. Head is a finger of chunky ivory foam which leaves a nice lace. Good for the style.

Smell: sweet, grainy malt aroma with a hint of noble hops. Not too bad.

Taste: very much like the aroma. Sweetness is the first thing that hits me, followed by the grainy character and finally a pretty clean bitterness. Not bad.

Mouthfeel: light body with a decent carbonation and a light, airy mouthfeel. Refreshing.

Overall: a decent if unremarkable Pilsner. I bet this would taste great on vacation in Prague.

Poured from tap into Staropramen pilsner glass at a chinese restaurant in Stockholm...yes, a whole bunch of culture clashing going on here...
Pours avery run of th emill golden pilsner color, with nice head, and typical pilsner aromas...nothing special here. Taste is very nice, crisp, maybe even slight sweetness going on here. But its a czech pils...a good one, but still lack luster in personality. Nice brew with some noodles, and worth the $5 relatively "low" cost for a Stockholm restaurant.

A 330ml green glass bottle with a BB of May 2013.

Poured into a straight pint glass. A clear golden-yellow colour with light carbonation. Yields a huge head of creamy white foam that lasts for quite a while before reducing to a surface layer. Aroma of light malt with hints of cardboard/wet grain, stewed malt and a faint metallic note.

Tastes of light malt with a crisp bitter finish. Notes of stewed hops and mild noble hop aroma. A restrained bitterness upon swallowing, with a hint of solvent. Mouthfeel is light, tingly and dry. Reasonable body for the style, with mild astringency. Aftertaste of stewed hops.

A pretty standard lager - taste and aroma are OK but don't stand out from the crowd. The dryness is quite pleasing. Not the greatest Czech pilsner, but drinkable enough - grab some for a warm day.

A: Pours a golden liquid with lots of carbonation bubbles into the glass. A two finger high head forms at first and then dissolves leaving nice lacings on the glass.

S: Smells like any other Pilsener. A bit of hay, some very faint hop tones. Baking soda. In general there is not much smell at all.

T: Tastes white bread, almost no hop flavours at all. Some very low bitterness at the end.

M: Surprisinlgy it feels oily and watery at the same time. Low to medium bodied with medium carbonation.

O: Nothing special. An ordinary beer for ordinary people.

Had it in a can, poured down the side into a lager glass,
I Like it, better then a lot of other beers available comerically.
The foam head pretty much sat there till consumed.
then left thick lacing all over the glass, and as it was consumed
the lacing went farther and farther down the glass, till it was
finished, lacing to the bottom.
The color is a perfect gold, with medium average carbonation.
The smell is like wet grain which some like, some dont.
The taste is good, cant detect adjuncts but there is a hint of "metal". could be b'cuz my serving is from a 500ml can.

I would buy again.

Poured into a fluted pilsener glass. The beer is a pure deep golden color. A fizzy white head sits on top, and hardly dissipates at all. Nice thick foamy lacing on the glass. The smell is dank, skunky, and like damp malt. The beer tastes better than the smell, thankfully. Malt grains, adjuncts, and a sightly bitter finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied.

Overall, I expected more, but this is your typically skunky green-bottled pilsner (i.e. Pilsner Urquell).

Pours a nice deep golden colour with a finger head that dissipates quite quickly.

Smell is grainy with maybe a bit of floral smell, not overly strong.

Bitter finish, malty, clean on teh mouth with a fair bit of carbonation.

Great on a warm summer day, not too different from many other pilseners, doesn't really stand out from the NA's.

Poured into a pilsner glass from a 12oz bottle.

Pours a golden color, with substantial carbonation and nice little ring at the top. Not much else to speak of, except that it contains the appearance of a beer that is simple and clear, and hopefully, to the point.

The aroma is pretty grainy and slightly spiced overall, but there isn't much to write about as it is subtle throughout. However, from what I can gather, there's plenty of cereal grains, floral saaz hops, and a little bit of alcohol. Again, at this point I can hear the beer "begging me" to tasted, and cannot linger any longer in this section.

I take one sip and feel good. I take another sip and feel better. Upon the third sip, I feel addicted. This is great! With a thick body, juicy malts, and spice aided by the hops, this is ridiculously tasty for what it is. What I especially love is the sweetness within this beer - it's so crisp and delicious. Ever since trying this a week ago, I've found it to be very welcoming for it's clean, flavorful experience.

It's simple, sure, but it really is a beer that must be taken for what it is. There are more "complex" beers out there, but this is perfectly refreshing on its own or accompanied with any meal. A great beer, proving the saying that "less is more."

This poured a crystal golden color. Light aroma, some grassy hops. Has a clear, crisp flavor. The Czech saaz hops are bright and noticible, and it finishes clean and crisp. This is not a bad pils in the least—more like, ok. In the time it took from writing this review to posting it I forgot all about it, if that’s any indication of its staying power.

This beer poured out as a clear yellow color with a foamy white head on top. There wasn't much lacing or retention on this one. The smell was earthy with some hints of cut grass on the nose. The taste of the beer had a decent malt base with a light bitter finish. The mouthfeel was light, nicely carbonated and crisp. Overall this beer wasn't too bad. I liked it more than some of the others in the style. Still not one I'd buy a case of or anything, but glad I tried it.
