I was in Destin visiting from nearby Panama City and decided to see if I could find anything different or better than what I get back home. As the name of this place states, this is a great place to buy and sample great wines, but is it also great for beer? It most certainly is! I carried as much as I could get back home, but also many additional offerings from domestic breweries with which I am not familiar. But the best surprise was the choices of imported beers, especially from Germany. I purchased two that I had not seen in years. I will seek out this store on a return visit.

I stopped in twice in search of stuff that I couldn't find at Beach Liquors. Maybe it was because it was close to Christmas time, but the beer section seemed like a bit of an afterthought in the store itself, and I had trouble getting help, though once I managed to track someone down, they were helpful and friendly. Some slight differences in selection from Beach Liquors, and a good selection of what's in their distribution area...definitely worth hitting both.

I didn't have time to stop for the stuff that they had on tap, which you can carry away in crowler form, but that seemed like a good option....and when I was there, the tap list was more interesting/better than World of Beer's.

As much as I don't want people to know about this place, I can't say enough about how great Wade and Todd are. They usually carry the high end stuff I'm chasing and are a normal weekly check in spot for me. They know their shit and I'm super happy with the selection at the Destin store

Yeah, this is the place for craft beer hunters . Stacks of beer, walk in cooler and shelves of beer. Found a Cigar city Marshall Zhukov pentultimate push, prairie artisanal paradise and a crooked stave nightmare on Brett blueberry . I was happy with these finds. Helpful staff plus the option of Crowler fills, great place

Drove 45 min to get there and it was worth it. Rainy day at the beach so took my youngest daughter with me and we went beer shopping. Was very impressed with the selection of beer that they had here, way better than anyone else in the panhandle. Took a break from shopping and went next door to the bar/restaurant. They had about 20 taps and a pretty nice diverse selection. Nice thing is they can do crowlers of anything on tap. Next year will go back and eat lunch there before shopping, food looked pretty good
Note: I did this review back in June of 2016, my son went to Spring Break in Destin so I called here to see if they had any Fat Head that I could have my son pick up. Jonathan told me he could get me some, had some at his other store and would call me back later in the week if he picked it up or got some from his distributor. He called me a few days later to inform me he had the beer, but pulled it off the shelf because it was expired. Said FH wasn't distributing to Florida anymore until they finished their brewery expansion. I want to give profs to him for not sticking my son with expired beer. When asked he then proceeded to give me some recommendations of some beers in their distribution I might like. I told him what I wanted and he pulled it and boxed it for my son to pick up. Will be going back here in a few months when I am in Navarre, worth the drive to get there. I bumped the quality and service due to this.

The Florida panhandle is a neglected island of beer distribution but Chan's is a place that makes due in a spectacular fashion. You can find some great beers here and the staff really know their stuff. This is my go-to spot for beer; it's always the first place and the last place I go.

Overall I have to give this place a strong rating because they score well in the listed areas. I've been to Chans twice now. I have been pretty happy with the selection but I wish they had a bigger variety of 12 oz singles. Staff is friendly and on both occasions I was approached by someone amd offered help. Nate is very knowledgeable and when I asked about some CCB beers he even took me next door to the Craft Bar and gave me some samples to see what I like.

Unfortunately I do have one rather big issue with this store... their prices are high. I went to grab a 6 pack of Jai Alai and noticed it was $12 when I just bought one of these from another store for $10.50. That's a pretty big difference in my eyes. They DO price match so keep that in mind. I then noticed Boulevard's Aztec stout going for $16 when it was about $13 back home. A bottle of Prairie Bomb was $10 each... I typically pay 6-7 each elsewhere. I LOVE Bomb but refuse to pay that sort of markup.

Overall I will be back but I'll be careful what I buy especially if a liquor store down the street has the same beer for lower prices

Pretty good sized store with a vast array of bottles and cans. Was able to find some DFH WW stout, some good selections of Stillwater, some White Oak Jai Alai as well as some other stuff. Staff was rather friendly and didn't bother me instead of letting me peruse at will. Definitely a must stop for vacationers in the area.

It is always hard for me to rate on selection in Florida because my state has better distro, but this is a fantastic store and a world class bar. Beautiful, with an easy to read chalkboard that I would say had about 2 dozen taps from memory. I would venture to guess that they get the harder to get releases in town. Picked up some Prairie Bomb while here. They have a great tap list and do crowler fills. Did not get a chance to eat, but the menu looked very good. Staff was very helpful and friendly.

The selection of draft beer is usually the best in Destin. Only 6 taps ,but better than the places in town with 50 taps.

Feb 26,2014: Bell's Hopslam, Dogfish Head Olde School barleywine, Goose Island Bourbon County Stout, B. Nektar Zombie Killer mead, Ballast Point Indra Kunidra stout, Hoppin Frog Frosted Frog. Unfortunately it cannot be this good all the time. Beer tastings on Wednesdays from 6 till8 pm.

The staff is friendly and most are beer geeks. Great cheese available to enjoy with beer. The menu is small and the daily specials on the chalkboard are the best choice for food. Good wine list for those with partners who prefer wine.

Check the freshness date!! I was not aware that they typically don't rotate and I got two IPA bombers that were skunked and when checking the label of one of the "Fresh" Hop beers discovered that it was 8 months old. The other thing that bothered me is the bomber selection is displayed on a big rack directly covering a giant window letting massive Florida sunlight into precious beer. Other then that a pretty good selection. Got the last two six packs of CCB madura brown and when I asked an employee if they had any more CCB selection she said they didn't at the time but she could call around a few other stores in the area, I thought that was nice but I didn't have the time so I declined her hospitable offer. Here is a list of the breweries I saw that Wine World carried: Southern Tier, Bear Republic, Evil Twin, Straight To Ale, Hoppin' Frog, Bell's, Oskar Blues, Dogfish Head, Weyerbacher Double Simcoe, Smuttynose, Ballast Point, Sweetwater, Green Flash, Terrapin, Saint Somewhere, Victory, Stillwater, CCB

Best place in destin hands down for beer selection. Randy is the man, gets tons of stuff that nobody else can get. Lots of belgians, good selection of sours if you are into them, plus all the seasonals and regular brews you depend on. Food is fantastic here as well, liked to always grab a bite after the wednesday night beer tasting, mac and cheese was damn good!

Hopefully they will be expanding the draft capabiltiy and putting in some more lines in the future.

This is the place to get a wide selection of craft and import beer in Destin. However, buyer beware - the demand for craft beer varies in Destin and can be seasonal. Know how to decode the timestamps on your favorite brews! I have been burned several times on craft beer that was well over two years old. In January of 2012, they had Anchor Brewing Liberty Ale on the shelf that was brewed in December of 2010.

Aside from that, they typically have an outstanding selection, a knowledgeable and helpful staff, and great food. They also rotate beer on tap. The food is delicious but can get pricey. The beer on tap is usually fresh and nicely varied month to month. They also do a 5 dollar beer tasting every Wednesday.

Once again, this is the place in Destin to pick up craft beer. The only other place that comes close is the Fresh Market, and it's not much competition. Just check those freshness dates before you buy!!!

Great place. I usually go to their outlet here in PCB, which has the best selection here in town. Still, I love to drive over to Destin for the larger selection they offer. The patio and cheese shop add to the laid back atmosphere of the place. They have beer on tap and the best selection in the area. The staff is friendly and helpful. The Wine World Outlet here in PCB is a great place also, with beer on tap and weekly tastings, but the main location in Destin has selections that are not carried here.

moderate beer selection here. They claim 500 beers outside, though I would think that is generous. I wish they had a few more of the local florida distribution only beers (cigar city...even more sweetwater from Atlanta would be nice). Great place to come for liquor and wine for sure...though the prices on some things are cheaper at the Publix right across the way.

The service was alright, but the guy got a bit grouchy when I asked if they had smaller bottles of Kahlua...I only needed a little bit and didn't feel like going for a $15 bottle when I only needed a squirt.

I'd recommend browsing a few places if you're worried about money on this stuff. they have the major beers though, just wish there was a wider selection.

A bit hard to find this spot unless you know where to look but it's worth the effort... Lots to choose from here with offerings from Terrapin, Oskar Blues, The Bruery, Smuttynose, Cigar City. And several others like Bells... I picked up a fresh sixer of Jai Alai and a Coton that I couldn't believe was still on the shelves... This was a quality stop and I was glad I dropped in. Recommended for some quality brews while in the Destin area...If I'm ever in the area again, I will make sure to stop here... They were going to start filling growlers a few days after I left so that will be awesome as well...

This is the only legitimate store that carries any craft beer in Destin. I went there for one thing, Cigar City and all I was able to find was their last six pack of Maduro Brown. They really didn't have anything that I couldn't find in Chicago or Cleveland except for Terrapin and Oskar Blues. The craft beer selection was actually really small. The service was pretty good. The lady at the counter was nice enough to let me know when they might get some more CC. Its a solid store but nothing special as far as craft beer is concerned.

Update: I went back in on their delivery day and was able to snag a fresh six pack of Jai Alai. The beer manager was there too and a really cool and standup guy. We talked craft for awhile and he said he wanted to try some Three Floyd's so I may bring him some when I head back down to Destin in a couple months.

This place is amazing with 500 craft beer selections. It had every feature I want to see in a beer store and it is really a wine store. Thousands of wines. But back to the beer. Lots of hard to find stuff. This has got to be the best in the area. I found Hopslam and that is difficult to get in this area. They also had the nice feature of a huge selection of mix your own six. That is nice when you are wanting to try a bunch of new things without being stuck with a full six pack. I walked out with lots of different beers and didn't spend an arm and leg. The manager, Jeremy, was very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. He was very jealous that I had tried Rochefort 10.

There were not too many beers he hadn't tried. I stuck around for an hour and he set up a beer tasting. Great place. Wish the stores in my area were more like this. It is also neat that they have a gourmet cheese shop and restuarant in the back.

This is the top craft beer store between Pensacola and Panama City without a doubt. The only other true craft beer store in that region is Chan's off-shoot location (Wine World Outlet) in Fort Walton Beach, but it is not as good as the original.

The beer selection is great, with a wide selection of international beers, mostly British and Belgian. They also have lots of US craft brands, including the best Dogfish Head (otherwise known as the most creative brewers in the country, in my opinion) selection I've seen outside the Mid-Atlantic region. They do themed beer or wine tastings on a regular basis--just ask one of the employees or look for a flier while you're there.

They also have a gourmet deli and restaurant in the store. I don't know much about wine, but the selection looks impressive to me. Finally, they have a great liquor selection including an outstanding variety of single malt Scotches.

The prices for everything are reasonable, and truly outstanding, considering you literally can't get most of this stuff within at least 60 miles of here.

Took a trip to Florida recently, Destin specifically, and Chan's is THE place to go for beer.

This is a great place for beer, even liquor, wine, and cheese!

The staff is very nice. I didn't need any help so I can't report of their knowledge, but each of the employees were exceptionally pleasant.

I'm from Louisiana, and we don't have access to anything that Florida does so naturally, the selection was out of this world! But differing availabilities aside, the amount of beer they had was substantial. Massive coolers with beer, and a isles of domestic craft, and imports alike.

It's pricey. I stopped at a smaller liquor a ways away and found a few of the things I had purchased at significantly lower prices.

Either way tho, the selection is fantastic and worth it in my opinion.

Craft Beer in the Panhandle = Chan's Wine World

The two are synonymous. Period. Where else in the Panhandle can you walk in and jump right into a Belgian Beer tasting with Orval, Duvel, Saison Dupont, a gueze, La Chouffe, Duchesse de Burgeogne, and MORE, along with samples of artisanal cheeses, and a beer manager, Jeremy, who KNOWS HIS STUFF. I came down to the panhandle on vacation with my wife and simply COULD NOT find a "sensible" selection of craft beer.... until... I found Chan's Wine World in Destin. The reason I gave it a 5 on quality, service, and selection is simple. Is it the best available in the area? The answer is yes. The quality of the place is exceptional. It not only is a nice store when you walk in, but it has a full gourmet restaurant IN THE STORE, as well as a FANTASTIC cheese selection! Did I mention that, as far as the Panhandle is concerned, it has a great beer selection? For those of us in states with capped ABV laws, there were a few standards to walk away with, and more. Call ahead before you go and ask for Jeremy. This guy is a BA member and very willing to help you find what you need. 500 craft beers in the panhandle is as good as 1500 anywhere else when every other place in the area only prides itself on liquor liquor liquor.

Thanks to Jeremy for the tasting and the beers. A+. Period.
