Pours amber/copper with a creamy off-white head. Lacing sticks.
The smell is of caramel with perfumy notes and pine.
The taste is of caramel with juicy resin/pine. Tea-like herb touch comes out in the middle as it progresses. Honey sweetness is in the finish.
It is smooth, with an appropriate carbonation level.
Caramel (then honey) sweetness stand out, though there is a piney hop presence. It's well-made, though too caramel-forward for me personally. Not sure I'm a huge fan of the malt/hop mix here, though it was decent enough.

16 oz bottle poured into a Hinterland stange.
5.7% ABV
A - Vibrant ruby-hued copper in color, Hinterland's Amber has one of the longest sustaining heads I've seen in a while. Heavy ivory lace coats the glass as the chunky pile of suds drops into the clear beer!
S - Hinterland Amber's complex aroma is malt forward and offers a foundation of toasted bread spread with honey and drizzled with caramel. Faint hoppy notes suggest pine and citrus characteristics but they're underlying; an afterthought with the possibility of expanding in flavor and bitterness.
T - Munich malt sweetness and Vienna-like toasted qualities give this beer an initial Oktoberfest malt feel with caramel sweetness flowing in to join the party. Citrus notes from the hops bring fourth orange marmalade and jam sweetness to complete the toasted characteristic of the beer.
M - Initially sweet, this amber ale has a medium body and clean smoothness in the middle of the palate, finishing with traces of hop bitterness but more so lovely balance that keeps malt and hops in check.
O - Hinterland's Amber Ale is laid back overall; easy drinking with a profile that's easy to ignore should you so choose. On the other hand, the beer has a lot going on if you decide to pause and admire it's maltiness and well-balanced hop finish. This is a tasty beer that will pair well with damn near any food you throw at it.

Poured from an undated 16 oz. bottle: murky, deep reddish-brown with a very nice foamy beige head that slowly recedes to a small ring.
The aroma was perfumy, sweet and spicy some hints of caramel and hazelnut.
The flavor has a nice roasty yet malty sweet profile with a nice balance of hops. A faint sourness leads to a caramel and toffee flavor. All in all, a rather flavorful and complex amber with a slight nod to the malt.
This medium bodied ale has a clean and full mouthfeel with a pleasant roasty-sweet flavor lingering on the palate.
Another very good amber style ale that stands out among a crowded market of "amber" ales. Ranks close to Bell's amber.

Poured from the full pint bottle into a Sam perfect pint glass.
Pours reddish amber with 1/2 inch white foam. Settles down but a layer remains. Toffee/caramel nose. Just a touch nutty. Bready toffee taste with a medium hop throughout. Balanced - never sweet, never bitter. Very flavorful amber. Damn good.

(Served in a imperial strange)
A- This beer pours a hazy deep copper body with a microbubble head of light tan and a sea of more microbubbles gliding to the surface. The head melts away pretty quickly but does stick to the glass a bit.
S- The soft caramel malt aroma has a soft green hop bite to the finish but otherwise the aroma is pretty clean.
T- The slightly sweet caramel malt is soon covered by a pine hop flavor that is just a bit more full but is finished with a bigger bitter hop bite that grows in the aftertaste.
M- This beer has a medium mouthfeel with a scrubbing fizz finish but no alcohol heat.
O- There is some nice malt flavor and some nice hop flavors but the bitterness is just too overpowering and the fizz really makes it more dominate.

A - dark amber color with no real carbonation showing. no real head and whats there is quickly gone with no glass sticking.
S - dark fruit and cherry present with some bread malts and crackers in there as well. if it were a bit more pronounced it would have a great nose.
T - caramel is up front which leads into a floral hop presence thats quite nice. if the caramel malts tasted just a bit better i would really like this but they are lacking.
M - decent carbonation levels and hop smack on this. medium to full bodied.
O - its a decent brew. probably wouldn't buy it again but wouldn't turn my nose up at it if i was offered it.

Dark amber color with just a small head forming. The head quickly disappears. A little lacing is left on the glass.
Sweet malt aroma. Slightly bready with a floral hop bouquet.
Caramel malt dominates the flavor. Bready with a slightly buttery edge. Bitterness is moderate but it lacks much hop flavor.
Substantial body that seems to benefit from the low carbonation. I believe if it had carbonation that I think it should have, it might turn out to be watery.
An approachable American Amber that doesn't do anything great but does not offend either.
