Served in a Stone pint.

A- pours a dark brown with a 2" thin, bubbly cola head. Some blotches of lacing remain on the glass.

S- roasted malts, coffee, and nuts.

T- roasted, almost burnt malts. Coffee and some bitter chocolate at the finish.

M- thin body with medium carbonation.

O- ok coffee stout, but needs more body to it.

(Served in a nonic)

A- This beer pours a dense opaque black with a thin tan head even with a rigorous pour it is soon gone. There is a slow gentle carbonation.

S- The coffee black malt has dark rich caramel malt support.

T- The big dark coffee blend with black roasted malt that has some nice dry and chalky qualities and a nice roasted malt linger.

M- The light mouthfeel has a big scrubbing fizzy finish that scrubs the tongue and no alcohol heat.

O- The big coffee softer stout flavor with is rich but not much depth and is a bit thin in the body with a nice dry finish.

thanks to trxxpaxxs for the bottle!

16oz bottle at fridge temp poured into a darkness snifter. no freshness date.

pours out nearly opaque black with a nice 2 fingers worth of light tan colored head. faded to a thin layer with a thick ring. some nice sticky, webby lace covers a lot of the glass.

some nice deep roasted malt, a little toasted malt, and a nice coffee aroma, definatly not anything espresso like or anything. some dark chocolate comes through as well.

a nice mix of deep roasted malt and slightly sweet toasted malt and some coffee makes an appearence. some nice dark chocolate notes towards the finish with some slightly dry bitterness.

slightly chalky mouthfeel, medium bodied, carbonation about right for the style.

a nicely made stout for sure, but i might not have known this was made with coffee had i tasted it blind. its somewhat hard to determine whether the deep roasted coffee flavors come from the malt or actual coffee. a well made beer nontheless, glad to have tried it.

Serving type: 16-ounce bottle. No freshness date.

Appearance: Straight pour into a Guinness imperial pint. The color is an almost opaque black; just a tiny hint of light passed through when I held it to a lamp. Three fingers of thick, milkshake colored head dissipated very slowly and left trails of foam along the glass.

Smell: I caught of whiff of roasted goodness the moment I popped the cap. Espresso, caramel, chocolate, and there are nonroasted version of each keeping it balanced. There is also molasses, toffee, and milk chocolate. It also has oatmeal smoothness as it warms.

Taste: Lots of espresso, though it does not overpower the taste buds. However, it does seem to dominate the other flavors, which it keeps cowering in its shadow. Fleeting hints of caramel, chocolate, molasses, and lactose cross the tongue. The mouthfeel is dry, but also a touch creamy.

Drinkability: It is some pretty sinister stuff, and I would not mind drinking it with that chick from the Aaron Rodgers / Discount Double Check commercials (that is, if she has time away from hanging out at her State Farm office).

Thanks to LaCoursiere for this bottle.

A: Pours a nice deep coffee black with only the thinnest of a khaki colored head. It's just a nice covering upon the dark beer.

S: The nose is big coffee roast. I'm actually more impressed with the solid roasty smoke than the coffee notes. But the coffee is definitely present in the nose.

T: The first sip is filled with roasted malt, some burnt toast, and a touch of caramel sweetness. The coffee flavors shine through after the initial hit and linger long into the finish. The back end is bitter, burnt, and a little drying. However, there is still some lingering malt sweetness in the finish.

M: Full bodied beer. The beer starts off sweet and roasty, hits a bitter point, and finishes with a mix of bitter, toast, and malt. It's a different feel than your typical coffee stout.

O: This brew is pretty good. I don't know if it lives up to the standards of Great River's Redband Stout, or New Glarus' Coffee Stout, but it's a decent beer. I'm extremely happy to have tried it.

Poured from a bottle into a stein, the beer is jet black, with a thick, foamy, dense, towering head of tan, big bubbled head. The aroma is bordering on a big bag of coffee grinds, with the slightest hint of dark chocolate hidden in there. Flavors are rich and strong, and heavy in (you guessed it) coffee. Dark roasted and slightly bitter, the coffee profile rides a somewhat creamy and sweet backbone of malt. Flavors are a bit one dimensional. Smooth bodied, but the overt bitterness gives it a somewhat dry feel, as well. Very dynamic on the tongue and in mouth. The head retention is impressive. The aftertaste is a mild version of the taste, with a slowly weening coffee profile. The finish is slightly drying, with a slight linger to the roastiness. Decent, but not amazing.
