1 Pint bottle from a 4pk for $4.99. Even though it was the featured sale beer at the local international supermarket, I had a feeling it wasnt going to be a home run.

Pours copper with a weak white head that dissipates quickly. Nice lacing on the side of the glass though.

Sweet floral notes and a hint of lemongrass in the nose but very malty as well. More malt heavy than hoppy. Slightly dank and musty.

Candied citrus hops, caramel maltiness across the middle with a piney bitter finish.

Medium to full bodied, viscous with great mouth coating.

Average to slightly above average. A fair drinker and especially for $4.99 a 4pk. I wanted more hops in the nose and taste but this has a good malty backbone that makes it very drinkable.

Of course I love AIPA's, so this was unlikely to get a bad review. The appearance is not too cloudy with not a good head but a little lace. The aroma is weak for the style but the taste is pretty much all there and a bit darker tasting that many AIPA's. It is missing the hoppy piney taste and any yeastieness, but it has a good, unique taste.

Were it not for the uniqueness, this would not be worthwhile due to weakness in several categories, but it is truly unique tasting. I would only seek it out if I wanted a slightly milder IPA (more IPA than AIPA).

A: Pours a somewhat cloudy orange-amber color. The tall head has a burnt orange tint and a densely foamy texture. Retention is good, and some pleasant rings and webs of lacing stick to the glass.

S: Some pale and caramel malt aroma up front before a rather vibrant hop aroma takes over, with substantial citric (especially orange), fruity, and resiny character. A tangy bit of esters from the yeast is detectable.

T: Lightly grainy and moderately sweet maltiness up front, with a bit of caramel flavor. Hop bitterness is initially medium, with a nice, vibrant hop flavor. Citric and resiny notes are most prominent, with some fruity and floral undertones. There is a very faint tartness before a mild alcoholic punch at the finish, which also becomes increasingly bitter.

M: Fairly full bodied. Carbonation is fine and smooth. The finish becomes dry due to the hop bitterness, and a bit of alcohol warmth is detectable.

D: This is an enjoyable, if somewhat heavy, IPA. I like the hop bill, and it also works well with the malt bill. The body is a little heftier than I'd like, and the bitterness, while enjoyable, isn't as clean as in some other IPAs. These aren't bad things, but together they add up to create some rough edges.

Drank off a firkin dry hopped with appollo hops.

Poured a dirty amber with a creamy perfect cask head.

The nose was very aggressively dankly hopped. Very green and piney.

The flavor is agressively green and dank, very bitter and piney, just tons of fresh hops. Very hoppy and bitter, but not overwhelming even with almost no malt flavor.

Very creamy with lots of resin.

Fun cask beer.

I had Hinterland IPA in a nonic pint.

Appearance- This one has a hazy and dark amber body with slim copper-gold highlights. The finger width, white head looks puffy with a smooth cap.

The foam dies quickly and leaves behind spotty lacing, just enough fizz left over to cover the lid.

Smell- Earthy and dank hops are the notable bit of this nose. I finally get some sweet, biscuit malt after a couple go-rounds. There is not much depth to this IPA's nose.

Taste- The beer starts out a little bitter on the palate, then gets to REALLY bitter, not very intriguing in the flavor hops department. The flavor hops feel a little grassy, with a grainy and piney back end.

The sweet malt is sort of there, but incredibly soft. Nothing really stands out about these flavors, it is a ho-hum experience.

Mouth feel- This one is too carbonated. It is hard to catch the medium to light body through all the bubbles. They do not work well with the bitterness of the IPA.

Overall- This beer has average written all over it. I do enjoy the scent of the malt, but it all but disappears on the palate. I also think more of that earthy hop tone on the palate would have helped.

This IPA seemed to be all about the bittering hops and not about being flavorful. A bigger feel and less carbonation would also have been appreciated.

Pours an amber-orange with a half inch of khaki foam that recedes to a thin skein, leaving small fits of lace. Smells of malts, pine and citrus hop, apples, and a bit of earthy spice. Bitterness immediately on the tongue, mostly pine and citrus pith, malt keeps the bitterness somewhat restrained in peak intensity, although the bitterness lingers and lingers long after the mouthful of liquid is consumed. Medium mouthfeel is a bit light. Carbonation is on the high side and lends crispness and a bit of zing to the bitterness. Enjoyable if not outstanding.
