From sample glass at brewery. Slightly cloudy amber-orange color. Toward the dark end of the color spectrum for a typical IPA. Slight off-white head with fine carbonation in glass. Muted hoppy aroma with some crystal malt notes.

Fairly sharp bitterness in flavor bordering on astringent. Strong flavors of darker crystal malts. Bitterness and astringency in finish as well

Puckering mouthfeel from moderate astringency. Slickness in finish as well, although i didn't taste or smell diacetyl. Moderate carbonation. Medium body.

A very big thanks to Mr Solomon for sending this one my way as part of the Growlin BIF. Nothing like a good growler of IPA to work on throughout the day! Served cold and in many a pint glass, this one was consumed on 03/15/2009.

As I pour the first glass out I new I had a winner. This was a nice medium amber in color with a big head of white coming up and over the top of the glass and spilling down into a nice cascading and foamy side glass appearence. Rich and mellow hops at the same time, the aroma was full of light orange, pine, hints of butter like notes and a load of grain as I let it warm up to room temp on a few of the pours. Very mellow and drinkable IPA, the hops crept up on you as the medium bodied ale went down super smooth only to let it come back and bite the back of the tongue with a nice hop touch and a mellow and earthy biscuit like malteness. Rich and creamy, this was the drinkers IPA, and I loved every minute of it. I would have no issue with trying this one again any day of the week.

The bartender told me this beer gets the most calls in the pub. Color was a medium amber with a good tan head that laced the glass nicely. The taste lacked something for me and might need some adapting to. The hopping was very sharp and not at all piney or citrusy like most western IPA's. I was wondering if I had it to close on the heels of the Triple Hop Red, and my taste buds were dulled. Any way, mouthfeel good and drinkability is tops according to the clientele. Probably a much better beer than I'm giving it credit for. I'll try it again if I can in the future.

Growler obtained via Growling at the Moon from Solomon420. Thanks for the opportunity.

Poured into an imperial pint glass, formed a 1/4" eggshell head over the moderately cloudy orangey amber brew. Head is quickly down to an uneven layer of bubbles, with exceptional lasting lace. Aroma is grassy hops with an underlying sweetness.

Taste mirrors the nose, spicy hops and sweet maltiness duking it out, with the hops winning in the end with lingering bitterness. Mouthfeel is good, with a pleasing amount of prickliness, and drinkability is good as well. Nice, approachable IPA.

Consumed January 22nd, 2011 at Caveman Cavey's Pizza in Frazier Park, CA.

Clear dark honey/gold beer. Plenty of carbonation though virtually no head.

I'm going to take a wild guess that what I'm smelling is Centennial hops - citrusy, oily. Fleeting note of crystal malts in the nose.

The beer tastes ever so slightly sweet and is substantially piny and bitter. A trace of crystal/caramel malt and a white pepper component as well.

Slightly watery on the tongue with a clean finish (save for the agreeable, long lasting bitterness).

Not stellar, but certainly quaffable, this went well with a spicy pizza and I would order it again under the same circumstances.

Poured on-tap at the brewery into a pint glass, the beer presents with a light golden-copper color, much brighter and lighter than most IPAs. There was no head to speak of. The beer had a tangy hops smell, and gave hints of impending bitterness in the drink itself. The brew did not disappoint. There was a blend of malt and hops flavors, with a bitter, hoppy aftertaste, typical of an IPA. On an interesting note, there was a spicy undertone to the beer, which was very trace and hard to pinpoint (black pepper was my best guess). The beer was light bodied in mouth, and almost seemed to wilt a bit. That, combined with the pepper-y undertones made this one a tough drink, and I typically love a good IPA. I can absolutely appreciate the uniqueness of the brew, but I would not go out of my way to seek this out again.

Pours a dark orange color with a decent white head.

Aromas are somewhat faint. Citrus hops smells, and hard candies.

Flavors are nice, not to strong, but the flavors that are there are tasty. Some nice creamy malts flavors, some tea like flavors, and a nice finish that is bitter with some grapefruit and orange hop flavors.

Nice full mouthfeel with good carbonation.

Drinkability is this beers strong suit. A tasty yet easy drinking American IPA. This will be a easy growler for my friend and I to finish.
