Located in a strip mall/industrial park. Exterior looked like a tool shed/warehouse with a couple of keg columns at the front entrance. Simple, expansive room with high ceilings and a couple of Harleys propped up behind the bar. Visited at lunchtime on a weekday. Not crowded, but several of the regulars appeared to be bikers, so the Harley thing was appropriate.
Pretty good food, definitely better than I expected. My Stinky Burger (with bleu cheese on focaccia bread) was pretty good and a bit more sophisticated than average brewpub fare.
As for the beer, I tried the sampler and it was, overall, OK. I would say the beer is slightly better than the average brewpub, but all the styles were fairly standard and most of the beers had some flaws, astringency being the main culprit. Most of my ratings were around the B- range, but a nice exception was their Kern County Crude robust porter, which I liked a lot and rated a B+.
Overall, this was a comfortable, decent place with a pretty good vibe. If I lived in Bakersfield, I'd probably find myself hanging out here fairly often, especially because they have a cigar-friendly patio. Of course, if I were a regular, I'd probably hit the brewer up to make a double IPA and some experimental beers to make things more interesting.
