Notes/Commercial Description:

It pours a cloudy, dark gold, with a frothy head. the aroma is faint with some banana and clove. The taste is much stronger than the aroma lets on. There is a wheat twang with banana and clove notes and a slight bitter finish. It is creamy and real refreshing. Very nice considering it was so hot in the restaurant.

just back from prague with some updates/additions for this brewery. typed up from hand written note taken at the microbrewery.

A = Thin layer of white head takes a short while to settle and leaves decent lacing, yellow/gold and oddly pretty clear for a hef.

S = Yeasty and fruity, some sweet apple and banana, small amount of breadiness/malt, not much bitterness/hops.

T = Fruity at the beginning and taken over by the malt and yeast towards the end. Hops show up slightly at the end and in the aftertaste. As it warms you get touches of honey as well. Smooth transition from fruits to grains over the course of the sip.

M = Fluffy, medium body with medium carbonation, silky smooth and wet.

D = Very drinkable, not too sweet, nice balance between fruits and malts and some hops to round it out. Could put back a few of these on a relaxing or hot night.

On-tap at Pivovarský Dům, Prague, Czech Republic

A: The beer is cloudy light yellow in color and poured with a two finger high bright white head that has good retention properties.
S: There are light aromas of wheat and yeast in the nose.
T: The taste is very similar to the smell and has notes of cloves, wheat and yeast.
M: It feels light-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
D: The beer is very easy to drink and quite thirst quenching. I could easily have more than one of these in a sitting.

I'm not a tremendous fan of hefes, but I can certainly enjoy them in the right mood. Despite this, this thing was pretty good. Had a nice cloudy golden color to it with a good head. The smell was okay, nothing too great, and had a lot of banana notes as one would expect. The taste was good, with a bit of the usual hefeweizen bite that results from something I'm unfamaliar with. A pretty drinkable beer, and quite refreshing. I find myself drinking far more beer than water in prague since it's cheaper, and I found this one to make me feel quite a bit more refreshed than some of the others. Definitely a drinkable one that I could come back to if i were in the mood for a hefe in prague.

Tried at the brewery in Prague.

Appearance champagne gold. Very clear, fine carbonation feeding a big buoyant head of fine foam. Good retention despite the lemon wedge.

Nose is killed by the lemon, but I think there's really a genuine sour wheat character there anyway. Hints of banana and bubblegum. Not bad.

Taste is also prominently bubblegum, with a bit too much hoppy bitterness. Spose this is the hoppy Czech take on a hefe for you. Still, it's got good wheat characters to it. Mouthfeel very clean and smooth.

Very drinkable, very enjoyable.
