Pursuit Supply Co. is a quirky little place in Old Irving Park, more of a DIY hobby shop than strictly a homebrew shop. They carry supplies for home darkroom photography, cheese-making, pickling, coffee roasting, kombucha & soda making, and more. I needed a new copy of Wild Brews after my old copy disappeared, and Pursuit had a shiny new one, plus a dozen more homebrewing books. It's a small shop, so don't expect the vast quantity of stuff that Brew & Grow stocks.
In terms of ingredient selection, they had hop pellets, grains and a free mill to use, bourbon and rum barrel chips, wood spirals, and more esoteric dry ingredients like wormwood, rose hips, heather tips, and more. Equipment like glass carboys, kettles, cappers, bottles, even a freshly dumped 5 gal. Balcones whiskey barrel. Interestingly they also carry 5 gal. oak barrels you could age beer, wine, or spirits in.
Jesse was the staff guy, and we chatted for a bit about local beer and homebrew shops. He gave me a discount card to get stamped on future visits.
Overall this a very cool little spot to check out, worth a look for the homebrewer or DIY hobbyists of all kinds. It's close to Old Irving Brewing, and 1 block from the soon-to-open Eris Brewery & Cidery.
