Pabst Blue Ribbon is brewed in the finest traditions of an American Premium Lager dating back to 1844. Brewed with a combination of 2 & 6-row malted barley, select cereal grains and American and European hops, Pabst Blue Ribbon is fermented with a proprietary lager yeast. Our unique fermentation and maturation process results in a smooth, full bodied beer with a clean, crisp finish with a fine noble hop aroma.

A: Crystal clear, golden straw color, nice 2 inch fluffy white head, decent lacing

S: Adjunct grains, little hop, crisp lager smell

T: Sweet adjunct grain, little hop to balance at the end

M: Light as you would expect, dry, crisp

O: Not bad for what it is. Picked it up from a gas station in the middle of nowhere on the way back from fishing in the gulf, so something has to be said for availability. I would take this over some of the other macros for sure.

I’m not sure how PBR Extra - can hold a higher rating - than the OG. Anyway, as macro AAL go, this one has always been a go-to for me. Wayyyy Back before The Hipsters, say they “saved” it from the boneyard. I still remember it being $9.09 for a suitcase of 24(late 80’s). It’s a lovely golden color, when poured into a pint glass. The frothy head, would make Homer Simpson drool. This is your no frills, no-nonsense, I want to drink a solid, cheap beer, with no off putting flavors/aroma/etc. it has just enough of a hoppy taste on the backend, to let you know you’re drinking beer. It’s still an AAL, but at its price point: $7/sixer of pounders? It’s worth its weight in gold(beer that is) the abv at 4.7% makes its a solid, session beer. Whether it be playing horseshoes, going on a hike, camping, mowing the lawn, backyard bbq, or even grabbing a 24ozer at sports complex…it’s never out of place. One of the best pound-for-pound.

Clear yellow color with a generous head that settles to a thin, foamy lace.
Aroma of cereal, raisins, light malts and citrus hints.
Taste was sweet, bitter hops.
The feel was medium carbonation, light body with a grainy finish.

Pissy yellow pour, frothy white head. Nose says corn and cheap grains as do the buds. Thin watery, but not awful. Terrible maybe.

Brewed by Stroh here in Guelph, Ontario, Canada - it's a good, cheap AAL($27.50 - Nova Scotia). I'd compare it to Canadian-brewed Labatt Blue. The worst part is honestly the smell; metallic, stale corn flakes. If you can get past the smell then you're good! it's beer regardless!

PBR is a great choice for a cheap beer that delivers on solid lager flavor. Not too much to write home about but a very underrated pick for a beer you can find just about anywhere.

golden yellow/straw in colour. slight musty smell upon opening. lots of streaming bubbles and nice off white head,

slightly sweet/faint corn taste. smooth, crisp, refreshing. good for a cheap lager. one thing of note i see where texas is given as pol. on the side of the can it still says milwaukee, wisconsin that is quite a mystery. i would go with the 12-pack cans as it is cheaper that way.

A - 12 oz can aggressively poured into 16 oz pint glass with 1 finger head that dissipated quickly. Moderate carbonation with bubbles at bottom of glass and some racing to the top. Golden clear appearance, similar to most other AALs. Lacing is left on glass after each swig.

S - Lager notes of bread and barley malt with hop notes.

T - A well balanced AAL with bready barley malt notes up front, corn flake note in background. Taste of european noble hops that is much more than any other American beers or Pabst subsidiaries. Very satisfying in regard to flavor balance. It tastes very different compared to Bud, Miller or Coors maybe from the hops or each different yeast cultures.

M - Tasty light and refreshing, a good session lager that works on a hot summer bbq or winter holiday party. Very balanced in regard to being flavorful and also light and refreshing. Not too heavy, cloying.

O - What would the world be without PBR? Almost the oldest beer in the US besides Yuengling, IMO it's the premier AAL even compared to it's other cooperate owned peers.

Can't get past the inexpensive beer taste (it has no flavors), the mouth feel, the Mean Joe Green stickers and memories of headaches. Maybe the headaches were due to quantities drank versus quality, but I think there is a correlation there somewhere. Would drink a super super cold one with oysters, but as a before dinner cocktail, no gras.
