Strohs Light.

If I remember correctly, the original strohs was one of the blandest beers to have ever crossed my lips long ago when I was still in college and actually had friends who were off getting engaged and crawling up their fiances ass to die until the inevitable divorce. Anyway, this joins the story as the last beer. Not sure it's even brewed anymore, but it's here and in front of me right now so it shall get a drinkin'.

Look - Crystal clear yellow with a big ass heavily frothy white head that splits like a wanna be gangsta dad finding out his one night stand is knocked up. Carbonation looks cripplingly high and painful. No lacing as the head didn't retain for long enough. 1.5.

Smell - Rice like adjuncts all over the place with a dosage of seltzer and mineral water. 1.5.

Taste - Prettttyyyy much the same. Rice adjuncts and seltzer water. 1.5.

Feel - Heavily carbonated with a very watery, nearly unbearable body. 1.5.

Overall - How can you take something like Strohs and make it even lighter..I really didn't see a difference between this and the original. Both painfully bland and not worth the cool labels on the can. 1.5. (1,150 characters)

DEC09 2013 printed on the can, possibly a "born on" since Miller brews this.

Very pale dull canary yellow color, bright clarity and rapid carbonation. Clumpy soapy foam with some dish soap lacing. Looks boring.

Smells like a musty old dishrag, nasty.

Tastes better than that thankfully, some apple from the yeast, vague crackery malt. Dry aftertaste, thin and watery, bland. A real dumbed down lager, no structure or nuance at all, cheap buzz is all it is, at least it's not pretending.

As an aside, i've only spotted a couple old Strohs signs around town, but they're pretty cool actually, if you are into old breweriana. (629 characters)

12 fl oz. can, best by date on the bottom reads April 01, 2013, so I'm a few days late here, but that's nothing to cry over. Just learned from BeerAdvocate that this is a Pabst product, with a dismal 3.00% abv, not listed on the can anywhere, which is probably for the better. Landed the random bundle 15 pack on sale for $4.99 at the local beer store.

Poured into a Firestone Walker pint glass.

A - Pours a clear, see-through, faint yellow colored glass of water with about two fingers of fizzing white head that settles down to a layer of foam covering the top. One of the palest sickest yellow colored beers that I've ever beheld.

S - Smell consists of cheap dusty malted barley, carbonation, and corn adjuncts.

T - Thin & light-bodied. Some corn kernel, wet cardboard, and water.

M - Feel is clean, light, smooth. Virtually nothing here.

Overall, you already know what you're getting yourself into with this one before you even pop the top. This is quite possibly the "lightest" or, the lowest abv lager that I have tried yet. On the path to becoming a non-beer, or beer flavored water. With that said, it isn't nearly as foul or disgusting as heavier malt liquors like Steel Reserve 211 High Gravity. A fairly inoffensive, light lager that achieves what it is trying to do. I've got 14 more cans of this swill to mull it over also.

Served in an Ohio State shaker pint glass.

The Spelunky spree continues, along with the seemingly endless stream of deaths. Figures. This stuff pours a clear pale sallow topped by a finger of white foam. The nose comprises light corn, grassy wheat, and light hard water. The taste brings in more of the same, with a grassy, corny sweetness pervading the proceedings. The body is pretty light, with a moderate carbonation and a decidedly watery feel. Overall, a pretty sad little beer, one that seems to lean closer to water than beer, but one, considering the circumstances, that really isn't quite as bad as it theoretically could have been. (643 characters)

Stroh’s Light has a thick, stark-white head and a clear, slightly bubbly, golden appearance with even a bit of lacing left behind. The aroma is faint, with light, sweet grain. The flavor is similar- very standard light beer taste. Bitterness is practically nil. The mouthfeel is light and watery, and Stroh’s Light finishes crisp, clean, refreshing, dry, and highly drinkable. For a light beer it’s excellent. Overall pretty good.

Pours a light straw color, quickly fading white head and lots of bubbles.

Smell is faint but of grain, corn and some hops.

Taste is grainy in the middle and finishes with a bit of hops. Nice to actually have hops in there, finishes slightly dry. Mouthfeel is light and highly carbonated, refreshing.

An okay beer, worse than a regular Stroh's but better than the average macro but not better than anything else. (417 characters)

Out of a can this beer was a pale golden color with lots of rising carbonation and a short-lived, eggshell white head. The retention and lacing were little to speak of. The aroma was of pale malt, corn and rice and a hint of aluminum. The flavors were quite similar with the adjunct grains being dominant and the aluminum wrapping it up. Not very pleasant and hardly anything to write about. The body was light, the carbonation medium/high and the mouthfeel frothy. Meh. (470 characters)

Poured from a 12oz can into a US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is a very pale yellow color and as close to clear as I’ve ever seen in a beer, with a large white head that fades very quickly and leaves a spotty lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains adjuncts, light malts and a very faint touch of hops.

T: The taste starts out bready with flavors of adjuncts. Then some light malt sweetness comes in with a very mild hops presence in the background. The after-taste is lightly bready and slightly sweet.

M: Crisp and a little smooth, light body, medium carbonation, finish is clean.

O: Not very flavorful, goes down very easily and not filling at all since there is not much to the beer, very mild kick, it’s exactly what you would expect of the style, this is a poundable beer because it’s so light but it would not be the first light beer I would choose. (871 characters)

Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a very pale yellow color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is mild, some corn. Taste is virtually non-existent. Maybe some mild notes of beer, extremely week. Feels light in the mouth and has poor drinkability. Overall I was unimpressed with this beer. (276 characters)

Poured with a two finger head which dissipated within 30 seconds to a very thin pale white ring. Just a little blotched lacing around the side of the glass when tipped. Color is light yellow a 3 on the SRM chart. Not a whole lot of flavor, so not good, but nothing displeasing. Maybe a good beer to slam back after an afternoon of yard work. I can't complain too much as the price is good n cheep. I would not recommend it to any serious beer drinkers, but after a few of the good stuff, this would pass for beer. (513 characters)

Poured into pint glass.

Pours about 1 finger of fizzy white head. Fades down instantly. No lace. Color is a ultra clear straw yellow.

Aroma: Hardly anything but some grain and corn.

Taste: Pretty much the same as the aroma but with some grassy hops. Very light flavored.

Mouthfeel: Crisp, bland. Very light and not a ton of carbonation. Ends with a dry grainy aftertaste.

Overall, nothing I would every buy. This is not a winner. There is hardly any flavor to this beer at all. Light, so I could drink a lot... if I was forced to. (536 characters)

CAN you believe it? Yet another beer to add to the CANQuest!

I got an easy finger-and-a-half of foamy bone-white head that actually looked like it might hang in briefly until it suddenly collapsed like a souffle. Wow! Color was a pale lemon-yellow with NE-quality clarity. Nose had a light cereal sweetness but not much beyond that. Mouthfeel was light, kind of effervescent, but without much flavor at all. Finish had a slight dryness, but not much flavor. This was blah and ho hum. I remember disliking original Stroh's as a kid, but here there was nothing to like or dislike. It was too light and airy for my taste. (619 characters)

Stroh's Light is the ultimate boating beer. i understand it may not be the best of all beers but for a 13.99 30 pack on a super hot day on the beach/ boat i dont think you can find a better beer. cans are great for the environment and crush small for stowing away. cans float when unopened so they are easily thrown out to a swimming friend. ever want to drink a beer while tubing? well this is the beer for the job. plus the watered down taste keeps you hydrated. and stroh's light compliments on the water vodka sours, well!! any way unless you are on the boat with friends, stick with a better reviewed beer because stroh's just doesn't cut around the house drinking, unless you are on a bender and want to drink twenty beers for some reason. (745 characters)

GOOD: In the flavor there is not a lot to say, simply is not very bad, with a marked consistency of corn and fizzy; with the food is acceptable.

BAD: The color is a ugly yellow; the smell is evil, refreshing on one hand, but with old essences and carbonation; have little body with a current and common foam. (310 characters)

12 oz can

A - Clear golden yellow color. Disappointing head (to be expected). Looks like a typical macro.

S - Smells like a macro. Hint of grains

T - As far a light beers go, this is one of the better tasting. Grain and slight maltiness present, I think I can even detect some hops.

M - Light and watery. To be expected. Good carbonation.

D - It is what it is. Light beer is always very drinkable. Enjoyable? In small doses I wouldn't mind drinking this again. (465 characters)

my cousins came to town from indiana and brought this filth, here we go!!!

it looks about as close to water as any beer i've ever seen, hardly has any color to it and a head that looks like dawn dish soap, just barely anything

smell is pretty bad, just an overload of corn and water, no presence of hops and or malt, what did they make this out of?

taste is awful. or rather the lack thereof, just a watery, mess of corn just avoid, good lord

the only possible positive i can see, is was near broke, and needed to a beer on a super hot day, i could drink these, because i'd be avoid dying of thirst. (604 characters)

12 oz. can

A: Bubbly head that disappears. Yellow macro looking.

S: Kind of metallic and grainy.

T: I always abhor the can taste, but this wasn't as bad as most. Its nice that it isn't super sweet like Bud and Miller. And as far as light beers go this one is way better than most. Old grains and a little malt with the tiniest bit of bitterness.

M: Watery but the body was a lot better than I expected.

D: Had this beer while painting my aquarium stand outdoors in 90 degree weather. It was a nice cool down. The beer has kind of a strong macro malty taste so two was my limit in the noon day sun. (602 characters)

Better for yardwork than the Regular. No real head, big bubbles that break down quickly. The smell is unexceptional but clean. The crisp taste is of malt, hops, and a hint of cereal. Which is unusual, because it only uses malt, but not quite enough. It uses more malt than Bud Regular, that uses rice syrup, instead of malt to raise the ABV. Bud tastes clean because there's nothing there. (389 characters)

a: pale golden color with about an inch of white head that dissapears much faster than the not light version, little lacing
s: watery corn grains, some hop presence not very strong
t: corn grains, kinda sweet little hop presence
m: light to medium bodied fairly highly carbonated not overly though

overall i recommend sticking with the not light version it is much better than the light (393 characters)

Light, pale gold color with a good pillowy head that dissapates quickly. Aroma is sweet like candied apple, flavor is similar. Husky and tanins up front but finishes a sweet sour combo. Drinkability is low because of the finish in my opinion. I much prefer a Miller Lite if I had to a macro light somewhere. Probably tasted better when it was brewed in Detroit, eh? (365 characters)

This just doesn't match up to the regular offering from Stroh's. Nice billowy head but the color is very light. Everything here seems to be a muted version of the regular, which has somewhat muted characteristics itself. Watery and a bit bland. Slight grainy notes and not sweet or dry. Drinkability is decent but this beer makes me belch a lot. More than any other macro. Odd. Stick to the regular. (399 characters)

Bottle obtained from the discount bin of a local liquor store. Pours a one-finger white 'melting styrofoam' head. Crystal clearn and really really light straw colored. Smells very very faint. Hallertauer-type hop floral and sweet tart sugar. Tastes of carbonation and corn over an even fainter honey malty sweet. With searching, I do get some hallertauer-like hop flavor in the back of the throat and in the aftertaste. Wow, there is nothing to this beer. Some hot summer day, after mowing my lawn...when I want something water-like, but not water...this is it. No, I'm not being fasicious, I honestly can see a time and place for this beer. Super thin body and heavily carbonated...to much so, as the carbonation was the primary flavor characteristic.

Edit: Well, well. I swirled the beer to release some carb and the beer tastes MUCH better. The hop flavor is quite noticable and some sweet is even present. Raising the taste from 2.0 to 2.5 (I would have raised it to 3.0, but some cardboard is also detectable) will increase the score from 2.25 to the score you see now. (1,077 characters)

Stick to the real Stroh's beer. This one is a lightweight beer that really doesn't satisfy. The color is pale straw. The head is OK on the pour but backs off quickly with little lacing left behind. The taste is a waste of the legend of "America's only fire brewed beer." Watery and over carbonated it is yellow and fizzy, leaving the drinker wanting something smooth and full-bodied. Take a pass. (396 characters)

This stuff is not all that bad. I had a six pack last night and although it does have a watered down character it's not overwhelmingly terrible. There is no head when poured, and has a mild gold color. Reminds me of Bud Light, but a helluva lot cheaper and more flavor. (269 characters)
