Came in a 40 oz. bottle. Another beer that I got in New Jersey that is not available in my home area. This is another gold lager with white head, of a sub-macro quality. Had a little skunk smell and taste, but not too bad. Malt dominates the flavor, with a little hops at the end. Unimpressive and not unique at all.

It's been so long but I thought about it today and decided to look it up. I remember my mother going across the border into Niagara Falls, NY to buy it because it was pretty cheap. When I would go over to go camping at Allegheny I'd pick some up.
That was in the mid-90's. I do remember this. It was cheap. Light colour. Light flavor. It was like a light beer. I didn't hate it. I didn't love it. It was cheap. Being like 19-20 at the time it was definitely affordable. I'm sure I wouldn't like it much now but if I saw it I'd still buy it for "old times sake"

Touted as the Budweiser of the 50's as I was growing up, drank this fairly often in high school since it was on the lowest end of the budget at the time. Enjoyed it just as much as bud but much less expensive. There are/were far worse adjunt lagers out there, surprised this one ended its run.

I have not seen this in years, I used to get it in 6x16Oz beer cans and drink it down the park when it was snowy and icy out. They stopped carrying it and I stopped seeing it. It was good as a forty and I have fond memories of the AAL. Why it has as score of 62 and avg 2.26 is beyond me. It was smooth and an good beer for the guy that needs to watch his money and earned a dollar.

There comes a time in every mans life when he must question the choices he has made. I made the choice to buy Piels. I was told that this was a great beer by my friend, Bill. Bill had come from Long Island, and thus he was used to beer like this and Rheingold. He told me to try it because "I just might like it." Upon pouring, it was a pale straw. The head was fleeting. Taste was corny and sweet. Might have it again.
