A: Golden clear brew. Moderate carbonation.

S: Light to medium hop aroma.

T: Light grassy notes along with good pils graininess.

M: Light to medium mouthfeel.

O: A very good Austrian beer. Water might not be from an alpine source but nonetheless a quality lager. Recommended. In the grand scheme of things this a is a good example of a Pale Euro lager. Just not enough hopiness for a true pils but a good beer indeed.

500 ml green can with white text. Poirs a very pale yellow with a tiny white head. Plenty of active carbonation that disappears quickly. It looks like gingerale or applejuice once it settles. The nose is boring and unappealing. Very, very mild hoppiness in the nose. The taste is similarily bland. Little distinsct flavours here. A very generic, standard lager. I would probably never buy this beer again.

Appearance – This one poured a light yellow that showed a tinge of orange. The head was white, moderate, and retentive.

Smell – There is a nice grain aroma that starts out the nose, but it gets a bit funky if you keep smelling it. The grain turns a bit rotten and a light sweetness that reminds me of puke opens up.

Taste – This one turns almost creamed corny at the taste. There might even be a bit of rice flavor in there.

Mouthfeel – This just fails to struggle away from light-bodied. It’s a lot flatter than I anticipated as well, making this lager a well-rounded disappointment.

Drinkability – Well, it wasn’t skunked, but it wasn’t very drinkable, either. Let’s leave this lager down under from whence it came and change the name to Grösser.

Purchased this one from Koppa's Polish Grocer in Milwaukee.

Pale yellow pour, pourus head, bubbles not contained very well. Aroma was forestish.

Minimal effect on the taste buds. Good water, slight hops, malt, alcohol feel to it. Just not much to take away from this beer, too easy to drink, if the price weren't such a gouge. Must be made for the fizzy yellow beer market. Way too expensive for what this beer is.

500ml can, amongst all the other Euro-trash aluminum in the local bottleshop.

This beer pours a clear, pale golden yellow hue, with two fat fingers of puffy, foamy, and soapy off-white head, which leaves a mish-mash of layered lace around the glass as it lazily melts away. Some rather active rising carbonation continues to make minor waves long after the pour.

It smells of bready, lightly biscuity pale malt, yeast, dry field honey, a hint of lemon furniture polish, and mildly floral perfumed hops. The taste is gritty bready malt, soft grainy cereal notes, muted citrus pith, and grassy, somewhat weedy hops.

The carbonation is quite understated and seemingly asleep on the job, the body medium-light in weight, and a tad cloying and weirdly prickly where one might expect smoothness. It finishes off-dry, which is strange, because it is neither off nor dry - any potential skunkitude has well wafted off by now, and the weak-ass malt resonates in a soft white grain sweetness.

What we all have here, folks, is a typical Euro-lager, somewhat skanky up front, though not a characteristic duly followed through on, and offset well enough by the tyro malt and bland noble hops. Not really worthy of revisiting, as the country tick is enough for me here.

Although the bottle I got from my fellow homebrew club member's basement was dated "Best by 3/01," it still bore up in pretty good shape. A sudsy head over the usual straw body. I can taste a little of the Dortmunder style here; certainly a little more malty sweetness than an American beer, without being sugary, and a hint of German hops. To paraphrase their own slogan; Nicht so “Gut” as a DAB, “Besser” than a Beck's.

This beer is a decent, flavourful representative in the Euro lager category — more interesting and less skunky than Heinken, Stella and Beck's, which are so prevalent.

It poured clear gold with a foamy, two-finger head. Spicy hops in the aroma were muted, but detectable and there was some bready malt as well. The taste was a well-balanced between the two flavours, but definitely in the realm of subtle, as opposed to just plain boring. Nice medium body, but the carbonation could have been higher.

A: Poured a macro-gold with a compact, fizzy micro-bubbly white head that left a broken ring lacing behind. Visible carbonation was feverishly strong through out the entire drink.

S: The nose yielded fresh bright grains, light lemon basil/herbal hopping.

T: The initial flavor was sweet and lemony backed by fresh, crisp pale grains. There was some bright lemon flavors and tartness, hay and herbal hopping found on the finish. Overall the flavor was clean and sharp in flavor with a crisp finish.

M: light, buttery-slick with some lemon basil herbal hopping gracing the tongue upon the swallow. The carbonation felt great in the mouth providing a light and playful tingle.

D: good with a great herbal hopping. Enjoyable per style and could drink a few of these, nothing that will blow your mind but a good one just to throw back and relax to.

Pale yellowish brew with a medium head that stayed in teh glass for a while. Sweet and very light beer. This is good for hot summer days under the sun. I don't think there is a need to drink this more then once...

This review was based on the 500ml can version sold in Canada.

Clear gold with a small white head and decent lacings. Aroma is grassy with some lemon.
Taste is sweet lemony malts with a very slight hop bitterness. Carbonation is spot on and body is just right. A very smooth and subdued flavor profile that makes this a sessionable beer. I don't know if this is Austria finest beer like the label says but it might be the easiest to drink many at one sitting.

Pours a pale yellow with just a hint of carbonation to hold up a tiny head- it quickly fails at this job. Aroma is malty, faintly sweet, fairly clean, but very weak. Nothing much of hops aromas to speak of.

Flavor is typcial of the style, although this one is milder on the hops, which is a plus. The hops are there in the beer- grassy, a little oily, but not turned and pungent like in the most famous entrants in this style. So I actually prefer it for that reason. But there are still so many better beers out there.

I had at a new beer garden on a rooftop in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, but I can't remember the name.
A- It had a yellow color with lots of bubbles and was semi-opaque. Bubbly head with some lacing on top.
S- Wheaty and hoppy scent to it.
T- Some hoppy taste to it but it is really quite plain. It's not bad but it just doesn't do anything. Very average.

pours with a strong grassy/hay aroma at first, followed by a malt background.
clear gold color forming no head. a slight stir produces a smallish lace just covering the beer.
light hoppy flavor with a decent finishing bitterness. fairly straighforward.
doesnt leave much of an impression, but nothing really bad about it.

Purchased in a Vienna supermarket, the brown half liter bottle sports a tapered neck and a green and yellow label featuring a coat of arms above the label. Ingredients conform to the purity law. Best before 6/30/07, I opened it on 2/6/07.

Pours a clear pale gold under a one finger white head that fades slowly to film and collar, leaving a fairly decent amount of lace. The nose is grainy, with a hint of musty socks. The mouth is light and fairly well-carbonated. The opening is fairly sweet, of bread and raw grain. The hops are a bit too metallic, leaving a rusty impression on the palette that lasts well into the aftertaste. The overall impression is raw, somehow unpolished. It needs more malt, and a different style of hops. Not impressed.

When this beer hit the glass I got my hopes up it looked very carbonated and I was looking foward to a great head, it never happened. To my suprise there was absolutly no head. The smell this beer carried was slightly fruity and the taste was just kind of blah. Maybe it was the bottle I had.
