Pours a dark brown color with a tan head and some lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, spice and a bit of vanilla. In the taste, hardly any smoke, roasted malts and big time black licorice. The licorice flavor becomes too much, along with the sweetness and minimal hops makes this one a bit of a mess. Medium bodied brew with fair carbonation. Overall, this was a good try, but no cigar.

This was one of the best balances of smoke with other ingredients that I've had. I usually don't like really smokey beers but the smoke in this was handled perfectly and I really enjoyed the beer.
Color was very dark and a surprising amount of carbonation for a beer this dark.
Aroma is very smokey but also coffee, chocolate and kind of a burnt roast.
Flavor, as mentioned, was perfect blend of roast, smoke, hops and sweet maltiness.
Overall a very good beer that i would recommend.
