Pours a reddish copper color with a white head.
Smell of finely kilned malt, toffee, caramel and toast.
In the taste, brown sugar, toast, caramel and some earthy, woodsy notes. Fair bitterness for all the malty flavor going on. The alcohol is present but not overbearing.
Medium bodied, well carbonated brew that finishes semi dry and bittersweet.
Overall, this is like an American Ale answer to a German Doppelbock. Big, malty and dangerously drinkable.

Serving type: on-tap

Served on tap in a pint glass

Appearance – The beer is served a deep copper-orange color with a one finger head of off white foam. The head fades rather quickly leaving a decent level of lace on the sides of the glass.

Smell – The aroma is heavies of a lightly toasted malt smell mixed with some caramel sweetness. Along with these aromas are some light fruity notes and a bit of hop aroma in the form an earthy and citrus smell.

Taste – The taste begins with a with a sweet caramel and toasted bread flavor along with some flavors of a slightly grainy nature. Along with these tastes are some nutty flavors and some more light fruit flavors of an orange and pear flavor come to the tongue as the flavor moves on to end of the profile. As the fruit flavors increase to the end, some other flavors of a light citrus and pine flavor join in the profile and end up producing a rather smooth and lightly hopped and sweetened flavor to linger on the tongue.

Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the average to slightly thicker side with a carbonation level that is rather light. Both the slightly thicker body and lower carbonation really accentuate the sweet and bready /roasted flavors nicely and make for a nice smooth feel.

Overall – A very enjoyable and quite drinkable brew. A good one to try if you get a chance and one I wouldn't mind if it made its way into the regular Brooklyn lineup.
