On tap at Muddy Waters in Minneapolis. 10 oz. serving in a chalice glass.

Appearance: Color is a hazy golden orange. Fair amount of bubbles. About one finger of white head that slowly fades into a thin patchy layer.

Smell: A sweet, yeasty, and fruity Belgian style aroma with good hints of fruits and spice. Belgian yeast with with big hints of the pepperberry along with some clove and farmhouse funk. Sweet hints of Belgian candied sugar. Big hints of bubblegum. Lots of fruit esters with hints of banana, lemon, orange, and green apple. Soft pale malt with hints of straw, grains, and cracker. Subtle earthy hop hints of grass. A pretty solid aroma.

Taste: Like the smell hints at, a fruity, sweet, and yeasty Saison taste with good notes of fruit and spice. Belgian style yeast with big upfront spice notes of the pepperberry along with some clove and farmhouse funk. Big taste of bubblegum and banana giving a Hefeweizen like twist. Also good fruit notes of lemon, orange, and green apple. Sweet notes of Belgian candied sugar. Bready pale malt with notes of grains, straw, and cracker. Also some honey like notes.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a fairly high level of carbonation. Spicy, juicy, and sweet but fairly drying on the finish. Nicely smooth.

Overall: A pretty good twist on a Saison. Good mix of spices and fruit esters with a nice dose of bubblegum.

I love saisons. They are in my top three styles. I love the variety in in abv and complexity that is found here and it is always with pleasure that I consume well done versions. This one brings immense satisfaction to the tongue, heart, and soul. A strong pour generates a healthy head of creamy colored, lightly yellowed, off-white foam. A slow fade leaves a wispy covering and light lacing. A surprisingly clear, darkened gold colored fluid. Nose offers a banquet of olfactory sensations. Lemon, pepper, grassy hops, all sit atop a lovely malt breadiness that showcases a superb yeast. Notes of bubble gum along with a very hefe like clove and mild banana really make this one work for me. It's soft candy sugar cookie dough scent reinforces the Belgian heritage of this one. Taste is a smooth highly drinkable encounter with the excellent vision of the brewers involved. The front is soft and bakery cookie sweet. Middle offers up a bouquet of bright citrus orange and lemon. Peppery spiciness kick in to start the transition.Finish flows into a mild hop drying more than bitterness. Bits of mint and light hop oil make this a crowd pleaser for the IPA crowd while being a low hop beer. Grassy and clean it leaves a lovely crispness that makes this a wonderful food beer that will work with anything but chocolate. Feel is smooth, mildly crisp, with a velvety drinkability that is beyond numbers. Quenching in a way that makes this a dangerous beer when you're thirsty as it is very easy to go through many glasses quickly. This beer seems to combine two of my three faves when it comes to style. Hefe and Saison. The yeast qualities along with the low bitterness that still allows the spicing and hops to shine make this a real treasure trove for enjoyment. Go Get Some Of This!

On tap at Lovin' Cup in Henrietta, NY.

Pours a golden orange/yellow, with a half inch head, and a little bit of lacing.

Smells like Belgian yeast, some grassiness, banana, and clove.

The taste is similar. Fairly smooth tasting, lots of fruity esters, some lemon and hay, and some indeterminate spicing, must be the lemon myrtle and Tasmanian pepperberry they say is in the beer.

Light to medium bodied, the ABV is not all that apparent. Crisp mouthfeel.

Not a bad new saison, but nothing crazy exciting either.
