As noted in the review of Local 1, this beer was obtained in Memphis because you cannot get Brooklyn products in KC. Side poured from the bottle into a pint glass with standard vigor.
Appearance - Pours a clear, amber color with a decent sized, one finger head which lingers for about a quarter of the drink and leaves excellent lacing.
Smell - A little bit of breads, some earthy hop notes, a little fruit. Just like I expected from the style, it is like a toned-down American IPA, with a little more breads and less hop whallop.
Taste - Much like the smell, although the malts were a little pronounced. It is balanced quite well, in that the hops didn't take your breath away and you could actually taste malts and breads, something which many of the AIPA's cannot claim. Nuttiness is also present at the end of the drink as well, rounding out the flavor profile.
Mouthfeel - Finishes smooth and clean, medium bodied and carbonated.
Overall - I really like what Brooklyn has done here, using the English version of the IPA to introduce something that is more than just a hops orgy. As discussed in this month's version of BA magazine, so many brewers have an IPA or 12 in their lineup that the flavor diversity and profiles are getting pretty slim and repetitive. It is nice to see something a little off the well-beaten path.
While I am not entirely familiar with the English IPA style, I may take a closer look at it and drink a few more variations, because it is much more agreeable to my palate than the hops destruction that is wrought by AIPA's and DIPA's.
Condor recommended and approved, just know going in that this beer is nothing like Stone Ruination or Green Flash IPA or anything like that.

Nice english IPA of a hazy orange/ocher color that goes to a yellowish tone in the corners of the glass. Foam is ok.
Smell and taste are full of citrus, specially lemon, orange and grapefruit. Pear and apple tones also appear and that makes this beer quite juicy. Maltiness, bitterness and hoppines are at an ok level but could be higher, specially maltiness.
Body is ok too. Didn't enjoy the mouthfeel too much because of the acidity that comes in corners of the lips.
