Poured at 45 into a pub pint. Freshness date stamped on bottle.
A slightly cloudy amber that gradually clarified, a short half inch head that quickly dissipated, wisps of carbonation twisting up, bottom to top.
A pleasant, predominantly malty nose. For me - a strong IPA preference and most assuredly a hophead - a notable absence of hoppiness, fruity esters, even in trace elements. Instead, toasted seven-grain breads. Lovely.
A lovely, dry, nicely balanced taste. Trace of sweetness, a nice malty finish.
Foamy, agreeable mouthfeel exceptional drinkabiliy. If this is indeed what our preProhibition forebears routinely drank, they are to be envied at least on that score.
