Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a nonic pint.
A: The bottle has a very conspicuous "Best Before" date on it, which I love. Huge, billowy head over a reddish, clear liquid. Very pleasing to look at. Leaves significant lacing along the sides of the glass as it goes down.
S: Fruity, floral hop smell with a tinge of caramel.
T: Hops slap your tongue sharply at first swig, then gradually fade to a sweet malt. The hops reassert themselves after the swallow. A little bit of caramel along with the malt in the middle. There is a distinct pine taste to the hops. Very dry and crisp.
M: Medium feel to it with average carbonation. More crisp than smooth.
D: Very drinkable, but too many hops to be a guzzler for me. You need to slow down a little when drinking this one. Not your typical lager. Lots more hops than I expected. I think it would be a really nice brew to cut through the cheese and sauce of a pizza. Definitely reminds me of a hoppy American Pale Ale in the mold of Sierra Nevada's Pale Ale rather than a red/amber lager. Not really what I'm looking for in a lager.
