12 oz bottle poured into a nonic
Pours a pale copper color with a finger of foam that fades quickly. Aroma is fantastic, full of pine and spruce and grapefruit and a hint of papaya.
First sip is a rush of tropical hop flavors with suprisingly little bitterness. I pick up a lot of papaya and pineapple. This is full of hop flavor and I'm totally digging it. There is no harsh bitter finish, and the malt sweetness fades to the background and complements rather than overwhelms the hop centric nature of this beer.
I'm very pleased with this beer. I'd certainly like to pick up another 4 pack the next time it is released, to see how it compares. Regardless, I would order this if I see it on tap somewhere.

Bottle from Gary's
Pours a slightly hazy deep straw color with a decent sized creamy bubbly white head that slowly dissipates. Aromas of orange, earth. pine, and resin with a solid light sweet sugary maltiness to back it up. The flavor is quite sweet like the aroma suggested with sweet sugar covered oranges and apricots. The earthy pine is less prevalent in the flavor as is the bitterness. Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation. Its got some nice flavors and I'm guessing most of the fruit flavors might be hop derived. Needs more attenuation and more bitterness.

This reveiw is based on a draft enjoyed on my birthday at Max's in Baltimore. It has an average appearance: light amber body crowned by a thin head. It offers a caramel nose and a mildy sweet molasses bite with a quick hoppy finish at the end.
Nice balance with moderate carbonation - and suprisingly smooth for a beer of this caliber. Sometime next year I gotta get up to Brooklyn and visit this place, one of America's finest craft breweries. Nuff said. Forgeddaboutit!
