Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a Brooklyn chalice.
Appearance: Pours a very hazy amber orange with a lot of rising bubbles. About one finger of white head which slowly fades into a thin creamy layer. Leaves a lot of lacing.
Smell: A juicy, earthy, and very hop forward aroma with good hints of citrus fruit and grass. Citrus hops with hints of grapefruit, orange peel, pineapple, mango, lemon, and tangerine. Earthy and herbal hops with hints of grass and pine resin. Pale malt background with hints of grains, cracker, straw, yeast, and biscuit. Slight honey like sweet hints as well. A pretty good IPA aroma.
Taste: Like it smells, a ripe, juicy, and earthy hop forward taste with good notes of citrus fruits and grassy hops. Juicy upfront taste of citrus hops with notes of grapefruit, orange pulp, pineapple, lemon, mango, and tangerine. Herbal, earthy, and floral hops with some notes of grass and pine. Soft bready malt background with some notes of cracker, straw, grains, biscuit, and yeast along with a slight note of honey. A very good and nicely bitter taste.
Mouthfeel: Full bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Very juicy and somewhat oily and chewy. Finishes dry with a little alcohol heat being noticeable.
Overall: A very good take on an imperial IPA. Good mix of citrus and earthy hop flavors with a nice pils malt background.

This reveiw is based on a draft enjoyed on my birthday at Max's in Baltimore. It has an average appearance: light amber body crowned by a thin head. It offers a caramel nose and a mildy sweet molasses bite with a quick hoppy finish at the end.
Nice balance with moderate carbonation - and suprisingly smooth for a beer of this caliber. Sometime next year I gotta get up to Brooklyn and visit this place, one of America's finest craft breweries. Nuff said. Forgeddaboutit!
