This was served from the tap at The Ginger Man in Greenwich, CT. The beer arrived in a tapered pint glass, and glowed a muddy golden amber. It held a one finger white head, showing nice retention. Sheets and legs of lacing were left around the glass as it disappeared, and a film, with small aggregates of bubbles were left across the top of the liquid. The beer was certainly hazy, but no sediment was noted. Carbonation appeared light. The aroma rose with fruity, citric hops, rind, pear, and apricot. A soft cotton candy sweetness helped to sweeten things up further, while pale malts, fusel booze, and spicy clovey phenols pulled us more towards the bitter side of life. Our first impression was that the hops were spicy, and the flavoring was nice throughout. As we sipped, sweet syrupy hops, pale malt bitterness, and sweet esters started things off. Caramel and buttery sweetness pulled us to the middle to sit at the peak, with more earthy, sweeter hops. The finish was of more esters, wet wheaty grain, and spicy booziness. The aftertaste breathed of hollow grain, citric hops that were still more sweet than bitter, and drying tannin-like tea leaves. The body was medium, and the carbonation was huge, prickling the tongue, all the way to the stomach. This enlivens the palate. There was nice slurp, cream, and froth, and a steely dryness was left around the mouth. The latter was due to the booziness, which sucked the cheeks dry. Still, the mouth was slightly more wet feeling than bone dry. The abv was appropriate, and the beer drank easily.
Overall, what we enjoyed most about this brew was the nice inclusions of spice and phenols throughout the nose and the aroma. While the beer smelled sweeter than it tasted, the citric hops stuck a nice, sweeter note than expected. This added an additional layer of freshness, making for a very refreshing beer.

This reveiw is based on a draft enjoyed on my birthday at Max's in Baltimore. It has an average appearance: light amber body crowned by a thin head. It offers a caramel nose and a mildy sweet molasses bite with a quick hoppy finish at the end.
Nice balance with moderate carbonation - and suprisingly smooth for a beer of this caliber. Sometime next year I gotta get up to Brooklyn and visit this place, one of America's finest craft breweries. Nuff said. Forgeddaboutit!
