Orange amber with a whisp of white suds. Standing tall in a shaker pint.
Pine, orange, white grapefruit, lemon peel. Herby and citrusy with a piney foundation. Malts are almost English in style, like an Imperial English IPA. Some booze.
Pine and booze first, with an orange-y citrus middle. Finishes with leafy hops and some malt sweetness. Green and herbal toward the end, but not grassy. Packs a punch with the alcohol where it is.
Medium-bodied. Feels lighter with crackles of carb. Almost unravels in the mouth.
This one's pretty good, and I'd totally have it again, but it just doesn't stand apart from the pack.

Reviewed from notes. Poured from 12 oz. bottle into a Fat Heads pint glass.
A: Hazy gold, with moderate visible carbonation and a half-finger of white head with average retention.
S: Bright citrus hops, biscuit malts, and some resinous hops in the background. This isn't one of those DIPAs that hits your nose while you're pouring it, but a nice aroma nevertheless.
T: Citrus (orange, less grapefruit) hops, with some tropical fruit and pine flavors as well; chewy biscuit malts with a touch of caramel sweetness, some hints of oxidation unfortunately. Some melon and pineapple hop character shows up as it warms a bit. Citrus rind bitterness in the hang.
M: Medium-bodied, with a creamier mouthfeel than expected but still reasonably well-carbonated. The alcohol presence is well-hidden in the flavor, though I get a bit of warmth that lets you know it's there.
O: I found this quite drinkable for a DIPA, though the ABV rather toes the line between IPA and the double form. Citrus hops dominate the sizeable malt backbone. Not the best DIPA out there, but a good one in a convenient 12-oz. bottle.

12 oz bottle, "BDAU82014" - I assume a best buy date?
pours a hazy orange golden color, with bright white head. good retention and lacing. hop aroma is a bit on the citrus and floral side. taste is nicely balanced, with some slightly sweet malt taste to hold up the hop flavor. medium body, softer carbonation.
