This beer is a blast. Strong citrus and a slightly pine hop flavor that goes down smoooth. Very easy to drink--strong but not aggressive flavor, and the hop bitterness is well balanced by the citrusy sweetness (that does not cross into tartness). Barely noticeable (to me at least) malt backbone. Gentle, mild carbonation serves only to complement the hops in a very much supporting role. Mouthfeel is well-balanced--both smooth/silky and gently carbonated, as noted. A winner of an IPA.

Poured into DFH footed pint glass; clear golden orange with lots of visible carbonation, and a clear white head, about two fingers, that falls after a bit into a dense, chunky ring.
Smells of hops; pine, earth, citrus rind. For my money, it could use more fruit to it.
Taste is interesting; very crackery but solid malt backbone supports a load of hops. Pine, earthy, citrus rind, and some smoother flavors in between.
Mouthfeel is surprisingly light and clean for a double IPA.
Overall, a tasty IPA. I don't really taste a big difference from the supposedly unique hop bill, but what makes this one good for me is how clean and drinkable it is for the %abv.

12 oz. bottle into a Burley Oak snifter (BB: September 2014, 0774 11:33)

A: Minimal head that is a lightly tan shade, that diminishes rapidly. Light copper color that is transparent.

S: Fruity, with citrus and floral notes. Not much pine or earthiness. A bit of almost peppery/yeasty Belgian to it though, but very faint.

T: Great flavor that has a great taste of citrus hops, that are complemented by a light, but firm malt base that highlights and supports those flavors from the hops. This is a great beer that is full of flavor. Really, I can't stress enough how much citrus in here, mostly in the form of oranges for me. It really comes across as if it was spiked with OJ or at least someone put an orange slice in my beer (a la Shock Top, but in a good way and without the actual orange slice).

M: Prickly with light coarse carbonation rubbing against your tongue and palate. Quite rough and just a bit aggressive.

O: It just hit MD, so this is quite fresh. This beer is a blast in itself. Seriously, what a great beer. I was super excited to see it out of the corner of my eye all by itself, just a single bottle in the mix six section. If this is really a year-round beer, then this will definitely be a keeper.

A celebration of hops while maintaining balance. The color was a nice yellow with a good amount of head that trails the glass. The smell was very full, with lots of citrus and almost a banana bread aroma. The taste was great with a lot of crisp hop flavors that co-mingle. HIghly enjoyable.
