Here in Brooklyn we’ve combined European malt and hops, Belgian dark sugar, and raw wildflower honey from a New York family farm to create Brooklyn Local 2. Our special Belgian yeast adds hints of spice to the dark fruit, caramel, and chocolate flavors. After 100% bottle re-fermentation, the beer reveals a marvelous dry complexity, enjoyable by itself or at the dinner table.

I definite have a soft spot for Local 2, the first time I tried this beer was right alongside Garrett Oliver in a local bar while discussing the properties of the beer with the head brewer himself. Tonight, will be my second time drinking this beer.
A- Pours a dark brown color with a huge light tan colored head that has amazing retention qualities and a good amount of lacing as well. This head seems like it would last for days without dying.
S- The aroma features a good dose of caramel and chocolate along with some orange peel and some spices as well. The aroma is simply fantastic.
T- The taste is truly a work of art that has the rare combination of being extremely complex but not something that is going to send your palate to overload halfway through the bottle. There is a lot of chocolate and caramel up front in the taste with some spices and a hint of orange peel as well. The finish is on the dry side, and simply amazing in how it really begs you to take another sip.
M- The mouthfeel is light bodied with a good amount of carbonation.
D- As I was drinking this one with Garrett, we both agreed that this one is dangerously drinkable for a beer of this strength.
Overall, Local 2 is hands down the best beer that I've tried from the Brooklyn Brewery and one of the better beers I've tried so far this year. Highly Recommended!

750 ml "champagne"-corked bottle, shared at local tasting, thanks to Sigrid S. ABV is 9%. Brown colour, large off-white head. Sweetish aroma, some stale notes, not impressive. Medium sweet flavour, fruity, some stale notes again, a bit disappointing.

I am moving this weekend and have been working down my cellar a bit to expedite the move. I have been hanging on to this one for about a year or so I think. Nose is plums and figs and dark chocolate with a yeasty overlay.
The flavor is understated and tasty, with an earthy, bready, woody note that also features grapeskin, chocolate, dried fruit and fine cordials. The texture starts with light caronation but finishes with a velvety, rich coating that letsyou realy enjoy the complexity. I don't know if the year of aging heped but this is very easy to drink, has a low alcohol profile for the abv, and presents as a nice alternative to some of the more overbearing Belgian style bombers you see often from big American brewers.
