Served in a Captain Lawrence Tulip from the bottle. Bought at Whole Foods in White Plains.
A: The cork came out very easily and with a pop. I barely bored two fingers before the head was too much. This beer is very well carbonated for a BSDA.
S: The initial smell is like light sweet brown sugar. Plenty of citrus, apricot, caramel. The beer smells light and slightly hoppy. Some toffee and just a hint of maple syrup.
T: The is nothing distinctive to me in the initial taste. Unlike other BSDA where there is an upfront heaviness and dark fruit. There is a bitterness that I find in Christmas Ales and Pumpkins from spices, hard to target.
M: The body of this beer is lighter and drier than expected. I am used to BSDA being on the sweeter side.
O: A good beer, doesn't hit the nail on the head for the style, but very enjoyable.
