Here in Brooklyn we’ve combined European malt and hops, Belgian dark sugar, and raw wildflower honey from a New York family farm to create Brooklyn Local 2. Our special Belgian yeast adds hints of spice to the dark fruit, caramel, and chocolate flavors. After 100% bottle re-fermentation, the beer reveals a marvelous dry complexity, enjoyable by itself or at the dinner table.

Thanks to TexasStout for dropping in this extra in a trade...a while back. Too long this bottle has haunted my fridge & now it goes down! Split with my wife.
Pours a rock-tumbled, almost shining shade of garnet. Head is unusually persistent, sitting still & patient atop the beer for a good twenty minutes while it waited for us to finish what we were doing. Smell is an unusual cross between an open prairie & candied Belgian sugar, plus yeast.
Local 2 takes off with a gentle hosing of pure Belgium, yeast & sugar rinsing the gums & cleansing the teeth. After that there's a lot of pleasant, but indistinct, flavors of dark fruit & mild spices that just keep on coming. I'm really having trouble describing it because there's no overall story arc, nor is it brimming over with any clearly idenfitiable taste. But it's good. The overall effect is a bunch of stuff that integrates nicely & is warming, unique, & rather yummy.
The carbonation is a touch overdone & a mite distracting. Alcohol is apparently absent. Drinkable as cold well water after a long hike, I just keep sipping & sipping.
Very good beer that borders on excellent. One of the better Belgians I've had lately, but what's with the queer lack of smell? Something this tasty should have goodness flowing into the sinuses, shouldn't it?

750 ml "champagne"-corked bottle, shared at local tasting, thanks to Sigrid S. ABV is 9%. Brown colour, large off-white head. Sweetish aroma, some stale notes, not impressive. Medium sweet flavour, fruity, some stale notes again, a bit disappointing.

I am moving this weekend and have been working down my cellar a bit to expedite the move. I have been hanging on to this one for about a year or so I think. Nose is plums and figs and dark chocolate with a yeasty overlay.
The flavor is understated and tasty, with an earthy, bready, woody note that also features grapeskin, chocolate, dried fruit and fine cordials. The texture starts with light caronation but finishes with a velvety, rich coating that letsyou realy enjoy the complexity. I don't know if the year of aging heped but this is very easy to drink, has a low alcohol profile for the abv, and presents as a nice alternative to some of the more overbearing Belgian style bombers you see often from big American brewers.
