750 ml bottle poured into shaker pint. Billowing tan head settles to a thin layer atop hazy iced tea colored liquid. Minimal lacing. Aroma is subtle, fig, bread, citrus, and dark fruit. Taste is stronger with citrus, malt, caramel, and honey sweetness followed by a slight floral bitterness. Medium body, creamy texture, high fizzy but soft carbonation, and a sweet finish.

Poured into a red wine glass, hoping that like local #1 it would open more up on the nose and it did.

fleeting Frothy white head settling into a nice persistant creamy layer, cloudy dark brown with ruby tones. (i may have agitated the yeast when taking it out of the cupboard.

Enticing aroma. Fruit heavy both fresh and dried. Maybe dried plum, bruised green apple, sweet tarts. No real toasted malt aroma as i expected. Very enjoyable

Tastes Similar to the nose with a few additions. Alcohol present but not over the top, toasted malts are soft but present. Taste of apple leather, caramel, toasty malts finishing with sweet tea.

nice carbonation, bright of the start, settles nicely, light to medium body, lighter than expected which i dont mind at all

I have to say this beer gave me a boner! Delicious fruit character, high alcohol without the imposing burn, slight dark notes that satisfy my soul, yet still refreshing. Sad this is my last bottle

Poured from a 750ml corked and caged bottle into a tulip glass.
Dark tea in color with ruby highlights. Billowy bone-white head of foam.
Aroma-Dark malts, subtle spices
Taste-Dark fruits, plum, dark malts, Belgian spiciness. Very smooth for the strength. Big character and depth of flavors. A great food beer for the table. Excellent!

2013 vintage 750 ml bottle, poured into a goblet

Appearance: Pours a beautiful, deep, dark, completely opaque, mahogany color, with two full fingers of white head that disappeared into a thin lacing of foam that completely covered the top of the beer.

Aroma: Very aromatic! Tons of toasted malt, followed by candied sugar, Belgian yeast, honey, dried stone fruit, such as fig, raisins and dates.

Taste: Similar to the aroma. Toasted malt up front, immediately followed by flavors of candied sugar, Belgian yeast, tons of honey and dried stone fruit.

Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied with some really good carbonation to tickle the taste buds. With an ABV of 9.0%, I’m surprised at how little alcohol there is on the palate; there’s practically none!

Overall: Wow, what a beer!! Great flavors of malt, sweet and fruit! Delicious!
