12oz bottle poured into a chalice.

A: Hazy golden. Fine-bubbled white head settles shortly. Spotty lacing.

S: Lemongrass, pulpy lemon, pithy. Big yeasty undertones, peppery, perfume. Cracker and shortbread malt.

T: Lemony, lemon grass, lemon head candy, very herbal. Jasmine. Yeasty and earthy. Slightly medicinal. Juicy tropical fruits. Simple toasty and grainy malt base. Dry. Yeasty, herbal, and lemony finish.

M: Medium bodied. Round, creamy, and a little chewy in that floury yeast type of way. Fluffy. Very smooth and enjoyable feel.

O: With a neutral malt character, this beer is all about the interplay of the Belgian yeast strain and the unique Sorachi Ace hops. The hopping itself brings enough complexity to drive the beer and keep the drinker interested throughout the session, but the yeast character adds much too. It really gets its hooks into you and draws you in with each sip. As far as pairings go this is an absolute slam dunk with sushi.

A - Pours a hazy gold with a two-finger foamy white head. The head lingers leaving a ton of sticky lacing.

S - Belgian yeast, white pepper, and lemongrass.

T - Taste is lemongrass, Belgian yeast, light sweet malts, and citrus. The finish has some lingering white pepper.

M - Medium bodied with high carbonation. Very crisp mouthfeel with a dry finish.

O - This is a very well done Saison. The lemon dominates the flavor. This would be awesome for a summer day.

From the second I poured this beer I didn't really like it. Too yellow. Not enough carbonation. Smell was decent, but nothing I wanted to linger over. The beer did improve as it warmed, but only enough to allow me to finish drinking the bottle. Too bitter, almost caustic. Not really dry. Aside from all those negatives I didn't like the flavor, although I can see how that would be a subjective element to this beer. Maybe something went haywire with the first bottling for 12 oz 4-packs? Glad I only bought the single.

Look: Opaque orange gold color with a thick fluffy white head, with good lacing

Smell: Citrus, lemongrass, light malts

Taste: More citrus and lemongrass, Light malts, drying finish

Feel: Light to medium body, extreme carbonation

Overall: A good American Saison, but not as much of the farmhouse flavors that make the style so special. It gets better as it warms and the carbonation dies down

Well, this is quite a novel beer. Here goes:

A: Pours cloudy yellow with a small head. While the lacing is good, beers of this type usually have a much larger head than this one. Also, the carbonation is less than in other saisons. just 'meh.'

S: Wow, smell is great. Ton of citrus, lemongrass, white pepper. Belgian yeast also imparts scents of clove, grainy bread, and spices. Exquisite.

T: Hops are good but a little muted relative to the smell. Fortunately, the bready Belgian yeast really makes presence known. Well-balanced beer between the hops, yeast, and malt.

F: Good.

O: A good beer. Some drawbacks, but a very original saison.
