Nice clear color, but with virtually no aroma and a feeble attempt at creating a head that fell flat. Taste is rather one dimensional and little staying power. Considering the brewer, I'm dissapointed in this one. Date code is a blur of ink dots but seems to spell out a Julian date in mid July.

12 ounce bottle in to a tulip.

a: Flat brown body with a 2 finger beige head that dissipated immediately.

s: Faint malts. Cider.

t: Not malty enough for the style. It has an apple raisin taste. Metallic finish. Thankfully no after taste.

mf: Thin and watery. A bit of sourness on the finish.

o: Glad I pulled this out of the 6pk and bought it as a single.

A terrific classic Bavarian Marzen. Both flavorful and refreshing; loaded with bready malts, and just the right amount of hops to keep things interesting. This brew screams Autumn, and is a perfect September brew to kick off those magical NFL Sundays. This one will find it's way to my fridge every fall from here on out.

Medium amber and clear, slim head. Toast and light shellac, mildly sweet, bread grains and brown sugars awash in the background. Some hint of spice. Medium-light weight and flat-feeling on the tongue.

An ok Oktoberfest style beer. I will certainly drink again while mowing the lawn. And remember folks, keep drinking beer and support your local brewery. HOG

Better than average Marzen style beer. Nice full body with plenty of flavor. Bready malts and earthy richness with a spicy finish. Great seasonal beer for drinking around the campfire.

12oz bottle, BB FEB 2016, I had this one a few years ago, but couldn't remember much about it (I had given it a 3.5 rating)
A - copper colored body with a thinner ivory head that dissipates quickly leaving a thin layer of foam
S - sweet and malty; caramel, toasted grain, toffee, nutty grain, earthy hops, spicy yeast
T - sweet caramel, toasted grain, toffee, spicy, nutty, earthy noble hops
M - medium body, very sweet and rich, finishes spicy and overly sweet
O - not a terrible Oktoberfest bier, but it is too rich and too sweet for my liking.

Pours a copper color, thin tan foam head, thin ring lace. Mostly clean aroma, but some bready malts in the nose. Crisp feel, malty but not sweet, herbal, touch of hops, slight cola finish. A decent Oktoberfest, although not the best of the style.

Poured into a snifter. Clear dark amber color with a nice white head that stayed a while. Few tracks. Not much in the nose - some bready malt and faint yeast. Taste was disappointing - a watered-down malty sensation with a funny watery aftertaste. Not much complexity.

BBD 2/16. Pours a medium amber with a nice garnet hue. Outstanding head volume, lacing and retention.

Outstanding light nose of rich biscuit with a touch of caramel. As it warms, a grainy character emerges underneath with a touch of raisin.

Light body with only a hint of smoothness. Slightly above normal carbonation with a nice effervescent burst in the middle and a nice prickly finish.

The flavor profile is good, but lacks complexity and balance. It begins with a clean grainy flavor that lacks the sweetness of biscuit or caramel. The middle is slightly bitter with a touch of herbal hop flavor. Missing is a balanced sweetness. The finish is a slow fade of the middle.

Very clean and crisp. Not a whole lot of caramel flavor or aroma. Color is a little on the pale side. Very easy drinking beer but there are better examples of this style.

A: Medium brown in color with a light tan head on top.

S: Bready with toasted notes, and some caramel sweetness. Light fruitiness.

T: Light bread and caramel, with some slightly darker roasted malts in the back, there is a slight fruitiness in there as well.. There seems to be a bit of an odd mismatch of flavors in there for me.. although for some reason, I could still really go for this to be sitting next to some German sausage and sauerkraut.

M: Medium body, but fairly high carbonation, there is a lingering mouth coating that seems to last for a while after.

O: Overall not a bad beer, but not great either. Certainly something out of the norm for me, but not my favorite take on the style.

Pours a brilliant copper color. Not much head retention.

The aroma, strangely, reminds me of a wet dog.

A solid malt backbone with a nice twang somewhere in the middle of the flavor. Lots of malt.

Medium bodied, nice carbonation, nice overall mouthfeel.

This is a great representation of the style. Incredibly drinkable, smooth, no diacetyl, rich nutty flavors. Well balanced and not too sweet - I'll be drinking plenty more of this.

Edit: Check out the bros ratings - interesting.

The beer comes in a dark red amber, hints of ruby.

The aroma offers toasty malts, nutty, fresh bready sweetness, herbaceous hops.

The flavor follows with a slight caramel sweetness, toffee, toasted bread, and bitterness of herbal and dense grass, with a light lingering sugary sweetness.

Mild bread, malt, kettle sugar and spice aromas. Not much hop on the nose and no diacetyl. It pours brilliant copper tinted amber under a very lightly tan tinted 3” white foam cap that fairly quickly dissipates. Rich malt flavors with slight kettle sugar sweetness, grainy spiciness, no fruit, finishing dry with a moderate hop bitterness. High end of medium on the body with slightly below medium carbonation.

S- Good carmel and malt smell.
L- Much carbonation with a nice creamy head. Nice looking amber orange color.
T- Nice malty taste with a sweet finish. Carmel taste coming through nicely. Hops come through in the end making a more complex feeling in which taste sticks around.
F- Not as smooth as many octofests due to the hoppy bite in the end.
O- A nice octofest.

Bottle poured into a pint glass.

A - Clear reddish amber in color with a thick khaki colored head that dissipates nice and slowly. Head has a bit of a creamy appearance. 4/5

S - Smells like fresh baked bread with a bit of dark stone fruitiness to it. A bit of grassy hops are present as well. Yeasty aroma comes out more as the beer warms. 3.75/5

T - Taste follows the smell with a bit more emphasis on the grassy hops. Lingering bitterness shows up on the back end. Increasing amount of granny smith apple flavor on the sides of my tongue as the beer warms, which throws me a bit. 3.5/5

M - Has a bit of a creamy texture to it. Not as crisp as expected. Lingers in my mouth for quite a long time. 3.25/5

O - The flavor was not as enjoyable as the smell but an enjoyable beer nonetheless. 3.5/5

I LOVE Oktoberfest and I believe that Brooklyn Breweries take on the style is delicious. There's not much else to say about this except that it is definitely easy drinking.

Try one. The ratings don't look that great but give it a shot!

355 ml bottle poured into a tulip glass. A deep fiery red-bronze color with quick breaking beige head; some light creamy bubbles cling persistently around the rim of the glass. Aroma is rich toasty malts, raisins, brown sugar, and ethereal grassy hops. Faint whiff of grainy alcohol. Delivers some wonderfully authentic Munich malt flavor. I get brown bread, slightly tart fruit (almost citric or perhaps Granny Smith apple), sweeter dark fruit (raisins and plums), a touch of molasses and burnt caramel. Considerable malty depth, with a sturdy medium body and medium-heavy carbonation. Finishes semi-dry I suppose, with some lingering grass/hay, pepper, and orange peel (!) notes. Malts from the genuine source make all the difference here, along with tasteful hopping. One of my favorite widely available O-fests.

From a bottle into an imperial pint glass (tasted side-by-side with Millstream and Summit Ofests)

A: dark copper, massive head, leaving the best lacing.
S: I'm missing something. Slight biscuity sweetness, and a little tart/sour apple cider.
T: A little light bready sweetness, some vinous apple, twangy herbal hops.
M: Light to Medium, a faint buzz toward the back.

Overall: On its own, it was decent. In comparison, this was far and away the least pleasing of the three I was tasting. The herbal and apple notes and lack of richer sweeter bready malt left me wanting quite a bit.

I always enjoy Brooklyn Beers but I was surprised how much I enjoyed their Oktoberfest.
Easily, my favorite Oktoberfest this season.
I will be buying more of this before the Fall is over.

Bottle from Lazy Dog Macon. Pours hazy brown with white head. Aroma of malts, wheat and fruit. Tastes of bread with sweetness at the end. Notes of hops and toffee. Not that crazy about it.

Clear ark amber pour with a small off-white head. Light toasted aroma with some grain and yeast. Taste is grainy with some spicy and earthy hops also present. Not much sweetness. Medium body also has a good yeast presence. Finishes crisp.
