I got a growler of this today. I was very pleased to be able to enjoy this limited release beer.

A - This is a light straw appearance with a little haze and a small white head. Moderate lasing. It was poured into a stemmed vessel.

S - slight orange or more apricot smell. Not overly strong scent but citrus is in the fore front.

T - Has a clove flavor very nice beer

M - Very dry and crisp and mellow

D - I could drink multiple beers of his in a session. Enjoyable all around

Presentation: It was poured from a growler which was purchased at Consumer's Beverage.

Appearance: The body has a hazy golden color with a soft, off-white head of foam. This head has good retention as it slowly fades from an average size to a light cap, which hangs on to the very end. On the glass it leaves nice, slick spotty lacing.

Aroma: The nose is full of wonderful floral and fruity esters. I mostly get notes of honey, with cantaloupe, honeydew, apple and pear. There is also a modest, earthy spice note, like coriander or allspice.

Taste/Palate: The flavor is more spicy and honey-like than the nose would suggest. The coriander notes as well as some viney hop notes pop out more in the flavor, and mingle well with a brief honey sweetness which quickly fades. The finish is quite dry with lingering earthy spice hanging onto the tongue. It's carbonation and body are in excellent balance, making it quite easy to drink, given its abv.

Notes: I havent had very many braggot style beers, but this one really grabs my attention. Well done!!!

Mini growler filled about 1 hour ago at DeCicco's in Ardsley, NY. Pours hazed very light golden honey, with a near white head that leaves slippery sheeting and moderate amounts of stringy lace. No foolin' nose of smooth honey and floral goodness. Enjoyable offering, notes of the expected honey, some floral features, light pepper lurking the rear. Nice and smooth on the tongue and coating the mouth nicely. Summer beer woohoo, tasty and bold, with the 8% completely hidden. More quality and well worth seeking out brew from Bklyn. Brewery

On tap poured into a 12oz tulip.

Pours a nice amber golden color with basically no head but some nice thin bubble streams. Nose is light and sweet like honey.

For such an odd style this was a very tasty beer. There's that honey sweetness and really not much bitterness at all, very crisp with almost no alcohol present. Mouthfeel is a bit syrupy but not too bad. Very tasty, seek it it!

On-tap at the Porter in Atlanta.

Pours a slightly hazy light golden color with a one-finger white head. The head recedes into a patchy layer on top leaving solid lacing.

Smells of light malts with good amounts of robust sweet honey and lighter amounts of cloves.

Tastes similar to how it smells. Crisp and light malt flavors kick things off and are joined quickly by sweet honey. Midway through the sip the honey flavors thicken up a bit and mild amounts of clove work their way into things. The honey and clove flavors carry through to a crisp and mildly sweet ending.

Mouthfeel is good. It's got a nice thickness with smooth carbonation.

Drinkability is also good. I finished my glass quickly and could have another.

Overall this is hands down the tastiest braggot I've tasted, the honey exerts a smooth influence over everything without being overpowering. Well worth a shot while it's still around.

Poured from a 16oz. growler into a Blue Point snifter.

A: Aggressive pour yields a 1 finger coarse white head that dissipates quickly into a collection of big bubbles. Beer is a clear lemon. Lacing is very spotty with web-like patterns that cling very close to a barely-there head.

S: Honey, ginger, and Tiger Balm. Bit of lemon zest and band-aid complemented by that distinct Belgian yeast smell. Not sure what to make of this one but its very fresh and invigorating to say the least.

T: Honey is apparent in a big way at the opening, middle, and especially at the end when it comes in with a deep richness just before the finish. Hints of band-aid and rubber. Pepper and yeasty spiciness. Lemon peel towards the middle. Finishes big but clean with a bold honey richness. Aftertaste is near non-existant.

M: Light to medium bodied, coarse, carbonated, and lively in the mouth. This one actually becomes a bit heavier as it warms and as the body rounds out towards the end of the experience. Finish is nice and big. No aftertaste.

D: Not really sure what to say here except that this beer has me a bit confused. Refreshing and relatively light body make this a nice session beer but the 8% abv doesn't mesh well with that. Still, doesn't drink at all like its high alcohol content and taste is just intriguing enough to keep me going back for more. Notch another solid creation from the BB Brewmaster's Series!

Ordered a pint at Little Ortino's. At first I was a fan of this little golden beer/bragot. The floral and earthy honey notes were delicious. But as it warmed, overpowering medicinal clove flavors and aromas hijacked the beer and I ended up not finishing it. After a while, it basically tasted like Robitussin. What a shame. Maybe this sat out in a hot distributor too long and Brooklyn's beers don't usually have flaws like this, but I'd ask for a taste before ordering this to be safe.

Pours a hazy straw color with some light honey highlights, small tight white head that dissipated into a light ring with some clingy lacing. The aroma is sweet and yeasty. A very nice spicy aroma, big pepper and clove, floral honey, quite perfumey. The taste is spicy as well and a touch bitter. Again it has peppery presence, clove, light citrus and a honey sweetness which adds some floral notes as well. The brew finishes with some grassy bitterness and quite dry. The feel is light but not watery, active carbonation, starts sweet but ends dry, nice balance. Perhaps a touch astringent. A very nice brew, definitely has strong Belgian characteristics. Good yeast flavors to go along with the honey. Definitely worth trying.

#1000!!!!

Notes: This beer is based off of Brooklyn Buzz which is a mead made by the Martin brothers using the same honey that is used in the Local 2. The honey makes up 25% of the fermentable sugars. A belgian yeast strain was used which gives this brew its spicy profile.

Finishing off a growler from DeCicco's:

A - Nice light golden color, a lot of carbonation action which is nice as this growler was kept overnight.

S - Definitely banana yeast is this a Belgian Pale Ale?

T - Definitely get that banana yeast taste, honey then kicks in and and it finishes up with some spiciness.

M - Sharp & Crisp, really jumps at you.

D - Think I will echo some of what the other folks have said, can't believe that this is 8.0%. Very easy growler to drink.

Thanks to Brooklyn Brewery (and DeCicco's for a nice treat). This was a style (Braggot) that I was not familiar with and I will be sure to search out other offerings in this style.

A braggot style mead from the Brewmaster Reserve Series. Draft pour into a 13 oz tulip. The beer menu at my bar indicates 6% ABV.

A: Served with a half inch of bright white sudsy/foamy head. Well retained. The body is a light to medium amber honey color. Lacing sticks in foamy patches, with semi-concentric rings. Perfectly clear with no bubbles within the body to speak of.

S: The nose is semi fruity, very floral and VERY spicy. Strong scents of honey and light candi sugar. Orange hops dominate the hop bill. The Buzz Bomb is on the light end of the malt spectrum. Possibly a hint of vanilla cream comes through.

T: Quite similar to the nose. Honey is also very distinguishable on the palate...

M: ...plus it provides a super dry mouthfeel. Fine fizzy carbonation scrapes the tongue clean. Light, crisp and somewhat refreshing with an enlivening mouthfeel. Dryness leaves the tongue so arid that another sip is requisite to wet the tongue.

D: While the mouthfeel is incredible, it also severely detracts from the drinkability. Highly palatable but not for long-term imbibement.

honey colored amber with no head and no lace. The color on this was simply gourgeous, I had not seen anything this shade before, quite stunning actually.

The smell was strong with alcohol straight from the start. Once you got past that, there were very subtle honey aromas and hints of nutmeg and cinnamon. A nice bready grain presence as well as grapes, pears, and a bit of fig could be detected, again though, lots of alcohol on the nose right from the start. The first impression of the taste was hot damn this is strong! Had a definate mead like feel and taste about it. Flavors were were overshadowed a bit by the alcohol. which you really needed to fight your way through. I could detect the ever so slight hint of honey, and alot of the grape flavor in it. Hints of peaches or pears could be detected as well as alot of winter like spices, nutmeg, cinnamon, etc.

a: hazy golden color, head slight

s: somewhat wheaty, pale malt base with floral and clove aromas at the front, yeast, orange peel, papery hops, honey not immediately apparent but probably mixed in with the general floral character

m: lively carbonation, body light-medium

t: wheaty base with a mildly sweet edge that quickly turns dry, lots of yeasty floral flavors, dried orange peel, glimpse of mint in the aftertaste

d: no real problem here, not something I'd run out after at this price point, but glad to have given it a try

Served in a 10 oz snifter @ Beer Run, Charlottesville

A: Hazy, with a hue somewhere between straw and golden. Finger worth of creamy head... pretty nice retention.

S: Rather light on the nose... malty sweetness, slightly floral, and a modest scent of honey.

T: Honey stands out much more on the palate, paired with a bit of a woody hop profile. Some 'spicy citrus' qualitied that complement it well.

M + D: The alcohol places it a little on the sipping side. Medium body, though it's closing in on being a bit fuller. Carbonation is nicely balanced, felt most over the middle of the tongue. Not bad at all.

On tap at Capone's.

Appearance: Hazy golden with a finger of foam.

Smell: Honey, aromatic flowers and a tiny bit of yeast.

Taste: Spicy honey with a real bitey kick. Also picked up some maltiness and some yeast.

Mouthfeel: Very bitey and surprisingly crisp.

Drinkability: Enjoyable brew, however I'm not sure if this is something that I could drink a lot of or on a regular basis.

L: Pours a golden yellow color with a medium sized and medium bodied white colored head that laces the glass a lot on the way down.
S: Smells of sweet malt, some banana/yeast aromas, some honey, spices, and a touch of hops at the end.
T: Tastes of sweet malt overpowered by banana/yeast flavors, honey, spices, and hops. Very interesting and not a lot of alcohol in the taste which is good.
M: Heavier feeling than it looks, pretty fresh, full bodied, perfect amount of carbonation, good feel.
D: Drinkable and all the spices mixing together was a nice experience. The flavors mixed with the feel made it pretty drinkable.

Tasted pn draft at Rootstock. Pours pours a cloudy but bright light orange with a nice white head that leaves heavy lace. Nose is similar to wheat beers I have had with nutmeg, cinnamon, and banana with an added hop and honey component. The flavors are very similar with a clove honey and wine flavor on the back of the palate. The body is medium with average carbonation and a long clove honey finish.

I had a draft of this at George Keeley's on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. We weren't sure of the ABV but I had heard 14% at one point. If that's the case it hides it well. This was my first "braggot" and, in general I liked it. I'm not sure if I'd have it again but I did like it. Light in color, strong in flavor and not too strong in alcohol.
