Pours heavy, thick, and deep black with garnet notes and a very dark brown head of dense moose. Completely opaque, this is the black hole of beers. Aroma is strong dark, even burnt malt, with notes of the alcohol and some dark fruits (dates, figs, currants). Hintsof anise come through in the aroma as well. Flavor is more dark (burnt) malt, bitter chocolate, and some very slight sherry notes. Finish is pleasantly dry and dark, with subtle reminders of the alcohol. Body is thick and oily, but very smooth.
