Brooklyn usually never seems to go above or beyond a typical beer style. They play their cards safe and always deliver a solid product, with balance and drinkability. Most of the time, however, I am left wanting more. Case in point, Post Road Pumpkin Ale.
A: The beer pours a nice amber, orange color. Lighter in color than most Pumpkin Ales I have lately. Some carbonation is present.
S/T: The aroma is quite subtle. It smells kind of like a typical beer, only with substantial pumpkin in the background. Spice is there, but very light. Taste is decent, but lacking overall. It does kind of taste like a typical beer, with some grainy notes in there. Pumpkin is much more prominant than the spice. The spice profile is actually quite disappointing. I mostly get cinnamon. Not much else. There is nothing offensive or bad here, it just needs to be more refined and forward.
M/D: Mouthfeel is pretty crisp and light. Drinkability is pretty good overall. Finishes rather clean with little aftertaste. Actually quite refreshing as well.
As far as Pumpkin Ales go, this one is closer to the bottom for me. Its got pumpkin and spice, but other brewers use both in a much better fashion. Post Road is middle of the road.
