Notes/Commercial Description:
Early American colonialists, seeking natural ingredients for brewing ales, turned to pumpkins, which were plentiful, flavorful and nutritious. Blended with barley malt, pumpkins became a commonly used beer ingredient. Post Road Pumpkin Ale brings back this tasty tradition. Hundreds of pounds of pumpkins are blended into the mash of each batch, creating a beer with an orange amber color, warm pumpkin aroma, biscuity malt center, and crisp finish.

12oz bottle poured into tulip - thanks brian

Pours a slightly hazy amber-orange color with a thinner topping of white head. Retains with a nice collar, leaving spotty lacing on the glass.

Pumpkins and spice in the nose with cinnamon and nutmeg. Toasted bread crust and caramel with soft sweetness. Smacks of pumpkin pie.

Plenty of spice up front, created by a cocktail of cinnamon, nutmeg, clove and cracked pepper. Very mild sweetness with pumpkin and caramel. Smaller backbone with bread crust and toasted notes. Finishes with chalky cinnamon spice and pumpkins.

Lighter medium body, slightly higher carbonation, sticky and a little chewy on the tongue. I don't typically like pumpkin beers, but I enjoyed the more prominent spice and milder sweetness of this one. Decent balance and pleasant drinkability.
