Notes/Commercial Description:
Early American colonialists, seeking natural ingredients for brewing ales, turned to pumpkins, which were plentiful, flavorful and nutritious. Blended with barley malt, pumpkins became a commonly used beer ingredient. Post Road Pumpkin Ale brings back this tasty tradition. Hundreds of pounds of pumpkins are blended into the mash of each batch, creating a beer with an orange amber color, warm pumpkin aroma, biscuity malt center, and crisp finish.

Reviewed from notes.

Pours a moderate brownish color with a tad bit of a light head. Nose brings a good dose of spice and a few hints of pumpkin. Taste is mostly spice with a bit of sugar and pumpkin. Light to medium body. Not one of the more extreme pumpkin beers that I have had, but doesn't quite hit the level of some of he better versions.

A: The beer is slightly hazy amber in color and poured with just a thin head and persistent lacy patterns of bubbles covering the surface. A light to moderate amount of carbonation is visible.
S: The nose has moderate aromas of pumpkins and biscuit and caramel malts along with some hints of spices.
T: The taste is very similar to the smell and also resembles pumpkin pie, except for the sweetness. Spices such as cinnamon and nutmeg are more noticeable in the taste, particularly in the finish.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied and smooth on the palate. There is a light amount of carbonation.
D: The beer was alright, but I've had better ones before from this style.

P- Wegmans in mechanicsburg, PA

A- clear pumpkin orange color with minimal head and below average lacing. Kind of bland in appearance

S- brown sugar and nutmeg with hints of pumpkin. Caramel malt thrown in with the brown sugar nose.

F- biscuit malts with hints of nutmeg and pumpkin spice with clove rounding it out. decent.

M- pumpkin and light bodied. Somewhat chewy and viscous for being light bodied.

O- Not a bad pumpkin. the biscuit malts are actually an interesting mix in with the pumpkin.

A- Dark golden brown with subtle head.

S- Very apparent pumpkin scent -- much like pumpkin pie, is the best way I can describe it. Definitely with nutmeg, cinnamon, etc., all coming through. Not overly pungent, just a nice and pleasant pumpkin pie scent. Very nice.

T- It had a nice hoppy taste, but I was surprised at the sweetness -- a brown sugar sweetness that came through almost immediately. Nothing over the top, but more than I expected. I felt it overpowers the hops and pumpkin spice a bit, too. Nothing huge, just a small complaint, at best. Unlike some on here, I couldn't distinguish the nutmeg and cinnamon other than to know the entire thing tasted like pumpkin -- to me the flavors married so effectively I couldn't really pick one out from the other. None of the flavors are very bold, though. All in all, a very pleasant taste.

M- Very light body and a pumpkin spice that is quite pleasant -- pretty dry, actually.

O- I would have liked a tad more hops, a little less brown sugar, and maybe not quite as dry. But, these are things to quibble over. Overall, the beer is tasty and goes very well with beef stew, I might add. It isn't my favorite pumpkin beer, but I enjoyed it and I would be happy to have it again. Far more positives than negatives -- kudos to Brooklyn Brewery.
