A- looks like a really nice porter with a very deep nearly black body and a nice off white head.

S- honestly the smell I very subdued, a little roast and ash but no maple.

T- like the nose this seems like a fairly mild porter with a little chocolate flavor and what seems to be roasted barley coffee character. As it warms a bit of hot alcohol and sweetness show through that could be from the maple but it's hard to tell.

M- fairly thin in body and low in carbonation, nothing to get worked up about either way but it drinks well enough for a basic no-frills porter.

D- this beer is a mediocre porter at best and an awful attempt at using maple at worst. If it was not called a maple porter I never could have even guessed there was an unusual ingredient much less that it was maple. Very underwhelming though in no ways unpleasant.

32 ounce growler filled at DeCicco's in Ardsley, NY

Pours basic black, dark tan head, initially hige, slowly going to a thick film and leaving respectable larger bubble lacing.

Sweet malt nose.

Sweet and malty porter, some moderate roastyness. Notes of vanilla, but not getting much if any of the advertized maple. Sweetness continues and continues, where is the drying and balancing hop component? anywhere?

Ehh, not my favorite and yet another disapointment in this "brewmasters series" of oddball and dud beer after oddball and dud beer...c'mon Brooklyn... this is getting kinda lame..first concoction and now this tame, sweet and on the lame side porter...puzzling...def would not go for this one again, with so many tasty, balanced and enjoyable beers out there and readily available

On tap at the 2014 Secret Stash Bash (Atlanta).

Nice opaque near black body but almost no head.

Excellent aroma is fairly complex but moderately, at most, strong.
Hints of maple here unfortunately only appear in the taste as vague sweet notes. Mildly sweet but enough to make this seem best as a dessert or after dinner beer.

Near full body with medium (slightly too high?) carbonation.

Review from notes. Had on tap at the Pickled Pig.

A: Pours a nice deep black color with a small mocha colored head on top. Quickly reducing to a thin layer on top. Minimal lacing.

S: Lots of typical porter aromas, lots of roast and a slight sweetness. It is not over the top maple, more earthy with hints of maple and a little caramel and molasses.

T: Sweet upfront, and again, very earthy. The maple is not in your face, but adds nicely to the overall flavor of the beer. Roasted malt and a little bit of vanilla.

M: Medium to heavy bodied with medium carbonation.

O: Not bad, but was hoping for a bit more maple to be honest. It was a decent porter on its own, but a bit more maple I think would have been nice.

A - Black pour, some lacing, pitch black with a tan colored foam.

S - Very nice scent of maple syrup, chocolatey malt, and english toffee.

T - Solid tasting beer, with a contrast of robust malt and sweetness of maple candy.

M - Smooth, felt heavier than it was, and a pleasant sweet finish.

O - Liked this alot. A nice surprise from Brooklyn.

Had on tap at wfm Columbus circle- poured a black color with a small beige head; very little retention and no lacing.

Smells pretty sweet- definitely get a little maple along with chocolate malt.

Tastes very sweet- like maple syrup, almost sickeningly sweet. Alcohol also very apparent not in an enjoyable way.

Mouthfeel was also lacking- a little top syrupy without the appropriate carbonation to back it. I won't get this again.

Served from tap into a sampler imperial pint. Poured a massively dark brown with a half finger beige head that subsided to a minimal amount almost instantly. Maintained decent lacing throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of roasted malt, bread, subtle sweet syrup, and a hint of coffee. The flavor was of roasted malt, subtle coffee, buttery, bread, and spices. It had a medium feel on the palate with medium carbonation. Overall this was a decent brew. I really wasn't impressed by this one too much if I am completely honest. With a name containing Maple in it, I really went into this one expecting to be blown away by the maple presence. Sadly this was not the case... It did have notes of it in the aroma, but that was about it that I picked up on. Definitely not bad, but also definitely not the best I've had from the style.

A. Pours a standard porter brown color with wispy beige head that settles into a light ring.

S. the aroma is light for a porter. Some toasted bread and toffee notes. A bit of coffee.

T. The taste is of a toasted pumpernickel. The malt is a buttery toffee flavor I guess some maple. There is a tart grape thing going on. Solid roast for a porter but needs a little more earthy flavors. Tartness kills the flavor a bit.

F. The feel is moderate. On the dry side with some sour notes. Balanced. Drinks well.

O. Solid porter not great. A bit too dry.

Enjoyed from a growler from Joe canals in Lawrenceville, NJ

Decided I had to get it, just because I know all of my friends woukd want to try, regardless of how good it was.

A: opaque dark brown. Tan head that didnt last long, but it was from a growler that wasnt cMompletely filled.

S: not a ton going on here, a trace of maple, nothing else

T: mild maple taste. Most of my friends were hoping for more maple flavor. Barely noticeable hops, a little bit of chocolate malt.

M: a little heavy, but not as thick as a fullers porter or brooklyn bcs.

O; definitely worth trying, just don't expect a dessert beer. Relatively easy drinking. Try this if you are looking for something a little different thats not extreme.

On-Tap poured into Standard Pint Glass

Appears a dark brown with a very thin head. Smells sweet with hints of caramel, maple sugar and malt. It was not as sweet as I expected which was a little disappointing, but the flavor was still good and hung in my mouth for a while. The thinness of this beer (as opposed to a stout) made it an easy drink that would make a nice dessert to a heavy meal.

16 ounce (I think it's 16 or close to it) mason jar/mini-growler purchased from Party Town earlier this morning for $2.75. Served in a nonic pint glass, the beer pours dark brown/black with a half inch tan head that went away quickly. There's a small amount of lacing. Aroma is very nice, the brew smells like maple, roasted malt, and chocolate. It tastes like roasted malt, caramel, maple, chocolate, and some dark fruit. The flavor also has more bitterness than I was expecting, but with that being said I still thought it was still tasty. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's a little creamy with moderate carbonation. I liked this brew, I wouldn't mind trying it again.
