Enjoyed from a growler from Joe canals in Lawrenceville, NJ
Decided I had to get it, just because I know all of my friends woukd want to try, regardless of how good it was.
A: opaque dark brown. Tan head that didnt last long, but it was from a growler that wasnt cMompletely filled.
S: not a ton going on here, a trace of maple, nothing else
T: mild maple taste. Most of my friends were hoping for more maple flavor. Barely noticeable hops, a little bit of chocolate malt.
M: a little heavy, but not as thick as a fullers porter or brooklyn bcs.
O; definitely worth trying, just don't expect a dessert beer. Relatively easy drinking. Try this if you are looking for something a little different thats not extreme.

On tap at the 2014 Secret Stash Bash (Atlanta).
Nice opaque near black body but almost no head.
Excellent aroma is fairly complex but moderately, at most, strong.
Hints of maple here unfortunately only appear in the taste as vague sweet notes. Mildly sweet but enough to make this seem best as a dessert or after dinner beer.
Near full body with medium (slightly too high?) carbonation.
Serving type: on-tap

Served in a shaker pint glass at McGee's.
This close to DePaul, my mind immediately thought of the Virgin Mary brewing up a nice porter in her small Middle Eastern kitchen. I've gotta get out more (...or less...). This stuff pours a clear burnt sienna topped by a half-finger of cream foam. The nose comprises caramel, light candied orange peel, dry maple syrup, dried honey, and vague sense of dark-ish fruits in the background. The taste brings in more of the same, with that fruitiness being joined by some mild sourdough, a combination that's not exactly endearing to my tongue. The body is a lithe medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a slick feel. Overall, a weak little "porter", one that just doesn't work for me. It's the fruitiness, really; it's too out of place here and sticks out too far to be of any help.
