12 ounce bottle, BB June 2013 etched onto the bottle.

Pours dark brown, dark tan head, stays a bit, and leaves some sheeting and strands and bits of lacing.

Milk chocolate nose, with some vanilla and dark malts.

More chocolate on the palate. Milk chocolate, bitter chocolate, vanilla, roasty malts

Dry finish as advertized...nice new offering from BKLYN

A very ordinary, not very stouty stout.

Moderate head immediately dissipates and doesn't leave even so much as a ring. Cola coloured brew.

Subdued nose, primarily malt and caramel. Taste is about the same, gentle malt and caramel, a touch of charcoal. Mouth feel is tart to begin, finishes slightly drying. Stout light is what this is I guess. Drinkable and inoffensive, but no real excitement in the glass.

Purchased at the LCBO served at 8deg C in a tulip glass

A- Very good. Opens well and pours dark

S- Pretty good. Malty that's for sure. Caramel

T- Not so good. Dry yes flavor no. Sorry but this one is a dud

M- Not so good. Dry and tart. Not stout material at all

O- Not so good. This rating is higher than I should give.

Food Pairing

This unusual beer would go well with... grilled cheese sandwiches

Enjoy

Very dark pour but with a very light head. The smell was mostly of sweet malt and a little bit of floral notes on the end. The taste was a lot of heavy caramel flavor with the floral hops cutting the end for a clean refreshing finish. The biggest problem I had with the beer is that it was very thin for a stout. Overall I thought it was an interesting take on stouts and thought it was worth the try.

Serving Type: 12oz bottle in a pint glass.

Appearance: This pours a dark brown, with little foam.

Smell: Maybe a slightly roasted aroma, but nothing much to speak of.

Taste: Roasty, nutty, bitter. More full flavored than a typical Irish stout. Very good.

Mouthfeel: Very light, medium-high carbonation. Goes down easy as expected.

Overall: I am a big fan of Irish stouts. This is a great American, non-nitro take on the style. Relatively straightforward but still very rewarding.
