Brooklyn Gold Standard Export Kellerbier is here to channel those days when the land was green with beer gardens, and no one had yet uttered the P-word*. The title “Export” connotes a beer more robust than pilsner, while the word “Kellerbier” tells us that it’s unfiltered. Our malt is 100% floor-malted Bohemian barley, giving the beer a rich bready backbone. And Brooklyn Gold Standard is going to need a solid backbone to hold up all those snappy German Hallertau Perle, Hallertau Mittelfrueh and Czech Saaz hops that are leaping out of the glass. A long, cold lager fermentation makes it rich, but smooth. The big floral hop aroma is followed by refreshingly bold bitterness and beautiful rounded malt flavors.

From 07/13/12 notes. Had on tap at The Gate in Brooklyn, NY. Served in a 16 oz. pint glass.
a - Pours a hazy golden yellow color with one finger of fluffy bright white head and moderate carbonation evident. Looks great.
s - Smells of bread, wheat, grains, and some earthy notes. Nice but not a ton going on in the nose.
t - Tastes of bready malts, wheat, floral hops, frains, spice, pepper, earthy notes, light lemongrass, and citrus. A step up from the nose; more going on and very pleasant.
m - Light body and moderate carbonation. Super smooth and easy to drink; could definitely have a few of them. Great body.
o - Overall a pretty good kellerbier. The nose is a tiny bit bland but the taste is very nice, and it is very easy to drink. Another nice beer from Brooklyn, and a good summer beer I'd have again.

Served on tap at Taco Mac 7/18/12. Reviewed from notes.
(Appearance) Color is a very pale yellow with mild haze. Head is white and retains average, settling to a thin white film. Overall a nice appearance. 4
(Smell) A mild pale malt with a pleasing syrupy citrus aroma to pair. Hops are less prevalent and not very bitter. Yeasty Belgian-like candi sugars here and there. Enjoyable aroma, although certainly different from what one may expect for a pilsner. 3.5
(Taste) Flavor is pale malt with a syrupy citrus marmalade, honey and mild citrus hop finish. A bit syrupy sweet and a bigger body than expected. Mild alcohol on the end. Interesting. 3.5
(Mouthfeel) Texture is medium-thick with a syrupy feel. Body is light-medium. Alcohol presence is mild. Decent pairing for flavor but a little deep for the general Drinkability of a pilsner. I could only have one of these before my palate is shot. 3
(Overall) An interesting pilsner, a bit heavy on the malt side, with plenty of syrupy goodness but not so much participation from the hops or the rest of the brew. It has a bigger body of flavor which makes Drinkability a bit lower than the average pilsner. It was a nice drink for me but I probably wouldn't order it again. 3

32 ounce growler pour from Bay Shore, LI Beverage
Pour is near clear lighter straw. Off white head, minor in size and interest. Leaves just a thin film and some fine lacing.
Minimal wheat malty nose with faint hops in the rear.
Tasty brew with clean malt up from and crisping hops in the rear. Crisp, flavorful and well balanced, with a nice zesty and dry finish. Fine beer to accompany a summers lunch of BBQ chicken, salads and cheese. Well done here by Bklyn brewing
