Color: Slight haze, copper color, more in line with your English pale ales then American, a little darker then most APA's.
Nose: Toasty malts, nicely ripened fruits and heaps of fresh herbs.
Taste: Wicked smooth malts, medium caramel sweetness, melons and other fruits, soft body that thins just a bit towards the end. Moderately hopped in the English tradition, beautiful balance between malt and hop. Dangerously poundable balance.
Finish: Herbs, balanced with a little more malt sweetness, very round with some residual fruit flavors.
Overall - a Fantastic beer from Brooklyn. Beautifully crafted and exceptionally balanced. A real drinking beer. The mark of a truly great brewery is not how well they brew imperial stouts and hop monster IPA's, for me, getting a smaller beer to be this pleasing to the senses speaks volumes about the brewers skill. This ale reminded me a lot of Sam Adams stock ale. Similar characteristics. Both excellent, often overlooked beers.
I like this beer. A lot.

Drank on-tap at the local Flying Saucer. Appearance is a hazy, nondescript copper, with a white head that creates no lacework and has little retention. Nose is watery, with notes of corn. Tastes like it couldn't decide what it wanted to be when it grew up: an English ale? A pint of Yeungling? As other reviewers have noted, hop and malt characteristics are poorly matched, as if someone had blended a so-so lager with an ale. Although some of the characteristics might have been likeable in a more balanced beer, it's less than the sum of its parts. I did not enjoy it at all and would certainly not try it again.
