Notes/Commercial Description:
We brew each batch with over 3,000 pounds of fresh raspberries and both sour and sweet cherries. The addition of fruit prior to fermentation makes this crisp ale tart instead of sweet. It’s pink in color of course, light-bodied, and refreshing with delicate, delectable berry aromas. We’ll bet the farm that there’s no better autumn seasonal around.

12 oz bottle poured into a nonic.

Pours a sickly pink color that fills up the remainder of the 20 oz glass with foam. Aroma is fizzy-sprite like, with some artifical berry or jolly rancher smells wafting from the glass.

First sip is a rush of sour cherry flavor that quickly fades into a bready malt flavor. This is billed as a "tart berry ale" and it does live up to that description. Strange to taste the tart berry flavor in a non bug-soured beer.

All in all it isn't bad... just not something I'd crave or go out of my way to try again. An interesting diversion, useful for breaking up a pair of strong IPAs.

Served on tap in a pint glass

Appearance – As the name would suggest it pours a darker pink/ruby like color with a two finger foamy pink tinted head. The head has a great level of retention, slowly fading to leave a ton of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.

Smell – The aroma consists mostly of tart fruity smells of raspberry and cherry. Some sweeter smells of the fruits are there as well and mixed some hints of wheat with a touch of graininess to produce a somewhat sour and wheaty fruited aroma.

Taste – The taste begins with a wheaty taste along with a lightly sweetened raspberry flavor. As the flavor moves on some yeasty tastes and a bit of funk come to the tongue. The sweeter raspberry becomes more tart in nature with some lighter flavors of tart cherry also coming to the tongue. The wheatiness gains a bit of intensity as the flavor advances further and becomes grainier in nature. Along with these transitions so to comes some flavors of hay and grass. In the end with the loss of the sweet, the increase in the tart, and the funky, grassy, and hay flavors, one is left with a light puckering fruit taste to linger on the tongue.

Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the thinner side in terms of thickness and creaminess with a carbonation level that is on the higher side. For the tart and fruity flavors of the beer the overall feel is rather good as it keeps the beer rather refreshing without becoming too undrinkable due to the more tart and lightly funked nature of the flavors.

Overall – A fairly tasty tart fruited beer. Not overly sweet, nor too tart to be enjoyable. Rather nice.

I poured this beer, it has a pinkish color body with a small fizzy head. The smell has a aroma of raspberries. The taste has a tart rasberry flavor, kinda dry
The mouthfeel is nice and on the dry side. Overall it is a good beer and.was made for a good cause.

A: translucent reddish orange, scant rim of head, no lacing
S: one-note raspberry, thin
T: sour raspberry/strawberry, yeast
M: thin, plenty of tart bite, dry
O: Thin and plain, the Vita-water of beer. Really disappointing relative to other Lambic fruit beers. The old staple Fruli is much more enjoyable as a not-beer.

Picked this up in Totowa recently, having never had this before...mostly because I'm not a huge fan of this style. While this was not a bad beer, it was pretty underwhelming and like so many other fruit and vegetable beers, this came across as being uninspiring and artificial tasting. While I would take this over any fruity malt beverage, that's not saying a whole lot given that offerings of those nature aren't even classified as beer.

Thankfully, the pour to this was able to redeem this beer. It had a dark raspberry hue, moderate head, and just a hint of a tart berry aroma to it. Not a lot of carbonation once the liquid settled down and this was about as clear as could be given the hue of the beer. The taste was light - champagne, chambord, and a bit of Lambic funkiness all tossed in for good measure, with mostly raspberry and some cherry tossed in for good measure. Lots of syrup, especially in the aftertaste but that faded relatively quickly as well. The fruit did coat my mouth and lasted longer than anything else but it felt like I had eaten a Jolly Rancher once I finished off each sip.

Not a lot of booze either in the taste or the mouthfeel and the alcohol quietly sneaked up on me as I made my way through the contents of my pint glass. With some more malt, body, and booze, this could have been a great dessert beer but as it was, it turned out to be another example of why some styles of beer just don't quite cut it. Yes, it was a beer in every sense of the word with the exception of the smile it failed to put on my face. Worth a go once for someone looking for a "light" experience while drinking but alas, this isn't even heavy enough to pair with cheesecake, chocolate, or tart pastries. Just enjoy it on its own and take it for what it is - a beer in the minimalist sent of the word.

My very first Yards Brewing tick.

Served in a Delirium Tremens glass.

A: Poured a clear, ruby color, with a mere aspirin dissolve posing as a head.

S: Distinct fruit scent that was slightly more raspberry than cherry to my nose.

T: First off, this was totally disappointing in the tartness category. It was almost as if someone took a top shelf New Glarus entry and then totally watered it down. Watery finish, but still not gross.

M: The carbonation was good... nice and spritzy. The lacing minimal, but ahhhh... where was the fruit stank?!!

O: Kinda weak as far as fruit beers go, but I'm glad I tried it.
