The most approachable of our ales, Brawler is malt forward and delicately hopped for a knockout flavor. Its smooth character, hints of caramel and toast, and remarkable drinkability define this ruby colored brew as a true session ale. Perfect when you want to go more than a few rounds.

Appearance – Served in a Goblet from a bottle. Pours very dark amber with a decent head that quickly disappears without leaving much lacing.

Smell - Almost overpowering sweetness at first, but then some of the roasted aromas sneak through. The sweet smell could be described as molasses like.

Taste- As expected by the smell, the beer is rather sweet, with a decent amount of residual sugar. After a short while, like with the nose, the malt and hops sneak through, however the sweetness is almost overpowering, until the aftertaste which comes through a little nutty and dry.

Mouthfeel - My sample, even for a session ale felt rather thin, and would be improved if it felt a bit thicker.

Overall – This beer, while suffering from a little to much sweetness, is not terrible and could go over well as a session beer for those times you want to have a few and not loose your head. Those with a sweet tooth will like it more than others.

Bottle poured into a pint glass

The appearance is a clean and clear dark caramel brown. The head disappeared almost instantly and left no real lacing. The aroma is candy sweet and that is about all. The flavor is mild with hints of roasted grain and a lot of sweetness. There is just a touch of hops to balance the sweetness of this brew. The MF is light and crisp as it should be.

Overall, this is a pretty decent session beer and an alright mild brown ale. Nothing spectacular but nothing amazing either.
