Notes/Commercial Description:
Our Cape of Good Hope, which changes year to year, pays homage to the original style and adventurous spirit of the first British IPAs. This past year’s release, a west coast style double IPA, is brewed with 100% pilsner malt, imparting a subtle maltiness and beautiful golden color. Loaded with hops, there’s Columbus in the kettle and Centennial in the whirlpool. Then it’s dry hopped with El Dorado, Calypso, and Galaxy, resulting in a dry, crisp ale with unmistakable flavors and aromas of tropical fruits.

Bottle > Sensory Pils Glass

A - Pours a clear gold, two finger soapy white head, medium on lacing.
S - Big dank hop aroma, very grassy, lemon, orange juice, cracker, grapefruit, pine
T - Up front is a really juicy hop bite, then you get some caramel malt mid way, ends on some flowery/pine bitterness.
M - Extremely dry finishing, almost too much.
O - Was blown away by how good this is, and cost effective too! I'd say its one of the best IPA's in its price range. The dryness can be excessive, but the good flavors make it easy to overlook.

From 09/01/13 notes. Had on tap at The Arlington in LBI, NJ. 12 oz. pour into a tulip.

a - Pours a somewhat clear bright yellow color with one inch of bright white head and moderate carbonation evident.

s - Smells of bready malts, wheat, earthy notes, and very light citrus hops. Very malts and not much going on. Hops are on the back end and very light.

t - Tastes of bready malts, wheat, grains, citrus hops, grapefruit, and some floral hops. Slightly more hoppy than the nose but still not a lot of hops. Step up from the nose.

m - Medium body and moderate to high carbonation. No bitterness, easy to drink aside from slightly being overcarbonated.

o - Overall a disappointing DIPA; more like a malty APA to me. Lots of malts and not a lot of hops to it, and a tiny bit overcarbonated. Not bad but probably wouldn't seek it out again.

Growler poured into a stemmed tulip glass.

A- Poured a hazy golden-orange color. There was an enormous fluffy white head that offers a very slow fade down to a thick film with a dollop in the middle of it. Lots of serious lacing.

S- Citrus and herbal hops, neither is prominent. A whiff of sweet malts. I expected some scent of alcohol from this DIPA but I picked up sweets.

T-Citrus and herbal hops...again. Big caramel malt backbone. And now I get some alcohol.

M-Lots of body There's some alcohol bite and sweetness from the booze and malts. It feels like a big beer.

O-I may not drink this everyday, but when I do, I enjoy it.

I have liked Yards on tap at 30th St Station. I am liking this one very much. DIPA poured into .5 liter glass.

A: Pours hazy pale yellow golden. Very large bright white head that lasts and settles into a rocky cap. Sticky lacing all the way down. This is one well made beer. A looker.

S: Lots of grassy, herbaceous hops. Sweet malt. A bit catty and fruit underneath.

T: Starts with hop bitterness up front. It's a grassy, herbal style with only a little fruit. Sweet malts in the middle.

M: Full bodied, creamy, great finish. As a rerview wrote a "large mouthfeel". great finish. Would not know for sure it's a DIPA.

With Cheese course: huntsman, Bellavitano w rosemary bread and dark pretzel. (great combo)

Revisit on 3-10-14. Consistent. It's a trifle soapy, and very flowery/aromatic as it warms in a good way.

Made a black and pale out of it with a smokey OLD FORGE resolution rye - both are better for it!
