On Tap at Kite and Key for their 3rd anniversary.
Bourbon Love Stout came to me looking very dark with a nice inch of tanned/beige loose foam on top that dwindled. small splotches. Looking into the brew it appears a kinda dark brown approaching black. Smell is basically the love stout. Deep roast with some lingering floral hops. Get a bit of vanilla from the base and spent grain. Surprisingly not alot of bourbon, if any at all. Taste is pretty much love stout as well. The bourbon influence is very muted but I do get some oak/wood from the barrel and some vanilla without the bourbon. I just cant taste it. Feel is at about medium and a bit bigger than I was expecting for a 4.5% beer. Nice bubbles from the force carbonation and a roasty aftertaste. All in all, this beer needs more time in the barrels. I would not call this Bourbon Barrel aged, i would call it barrel aged, because there is no bourbon.
