750ml bottle poured into a standard pint glass.

AP: Deep dark brown, almost black colour with a fluffy 1" tan head that dissipates down to 1/4" made up of tiny bubbles visible along the side of the glass.
AR: Cocoa powder and chocolate cake batter are the initial and strong aromas with black bread, a bit of roast and vanilla.
T: Mirrors the nose with the cocoa powder being the dominant flavour. Black bread and roasted grains are more prevalent in the taste, especially in the finish and aftertaste. A bit of bitterness in the finish like baker's cocoa. Taste is decent and enough to keep me drinking and enjoying, but I can't help think that a bit of coffee or espresso would make this even better. It's the one taste that seems to be missing from this brew.
M: Seemed thin for a Stout. Pretty well carbonated for a Stout as well with an oily kind of finish.
OV: A decent Stout, but not as good as I was expecting. It needs a fuller richer body and a note of coffee/espresso in the flavour to add some complexity and depth and round it out more. I know it's a chocolate Stout and there's loads of chocolate flavour in this, but for me it just needed another dimension to earn a high rating. (1,195 characters)

How I miss the glory days of Yard's Love Stout (the first oyster stout) I had ever consumed, it was delicious. Today's standard version is more of a dry Irish, and rather boring stout I'm happy to see a new variation.

Pours a decadent dark black it absolutely absorbs all light, khaki tan head rises above the rim of the chalice. Creamy textured head speckled uneven lacing.

Aroma has milky dark chocolate notes, hints of vanilla beans. Very mellow dark roasted malts the chocolate comes off as powdered chocolate/cocoa.

Surprisingly light in flavor, creamy dark chocolate, roasted malts, hint of vanilla. Flavors are fine but for a big bottled 750 ml release from Yard's I would expect a bit more body and texture and full on flavor. This is just a bit thin, in flavor and body.

Mouthfeel I mentioned a big lighter than I was expecting, medium bodied even carbonation for a big stout in a big bottle it just comes off thin.

Overall, not worth 8.99 a bottle, enjoyable drinking stout but nothing more nothing less. (1,023 characters)

A - Two finger's worth of lopsided and slightly rocky froth that is tightly packed yet fluffy and dark khaki in terms of color... Modest retention... What's left is a full layer of rich creamy frothy goodness... The color is a sleek glossy ink black that lets no light penetrate... A slight bit of sticky lacing clings to the glass...

S - Dark chocolate right off the bat... Hints of coffee... Caramel... Some lightly roasted malts... Rich and warming... Fairly straight forward, but there is a surprising bit of depth and complexity to this one...

T - Slightly sweet to start... Sweat cream... Vanilla... Caramel... Nougat... Next comes a wave of roasted malts... The dark chocolate doesn't appear for a finish and it only lingers for a bit... A very light kiss of licorice on the finish as well...

M - On the fuller side of medium bodied... Sleek and smooth... Limited carbonation... Somewhat dense... The finish has a slightly chalky texture...

D - An exceptionally drinkable English Stout... I'm a big fan of Yards and this offing only furthers my adoration... Solidly above average in all facets and teetering on exceptional in terms of aroma and flavor... The 6.9% ABV makes this one an easier drinker by stout standards and is something I would indulge in regularly if it came in 12oz bottles instead of bombers... Regardless, do yourself a favor and pick a bottle up next time you see it, you won't regret it... (1,427 characters)
