Served on tap in a pint glass

Appearance – The beer is served deep brown color with a one finger of tan colored head. The head has a good level of retention, slowly fading to leave a fantastic level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.

Smell – The aroma of the beer is heavy of a milk chocolate aroma mixed with a strong roasted malt smell. Along with these aromas are some notes of a vanilla sweetness as well as some aromas of toffeeanda bit of an earthy smell.

Taste – The taste begins with a more roasted malt flavor mixed with some lighter cocoa flavors upfront. As the flavor advances however, the roasted flavors begin fading ever so slightly with the chocolate sweetening up quite a bit and becoming much more intense. Tons of vanilla and some toffee join the flavor, sweetening the chocolate and producing a sweet chocolate bar flavor. With flavors of cream and a moderate amount of bitter earth also coming to the tongue at the end, one is left with a chocolate ice cream like flavor to be left on the tongue.

Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the slightly thicker and creamier side with a carbonation level that is on the lower side. Both were quite nice for the style of the brew and really helped accentuate the sweet chocolate and roasted flavors of the brew.

Overall – A tasty vanilla laden chocolate brew. A rather nice drinker and certainly worth a try if you get a chance.

Dark brown to black ale with little in the form of carbonation. Okay look.

Dark and milk chocolate with lighter toffee notes. English maltiness with a big roast. Cocoa and hints of coffee.

Chocolate, toffee, coffee, roast, and toast. A nice English malt showing with a slight sting of earthy Noble hops. Develops with some musty malt and a light tinniness. Good chocolatey character.

Fairly smooth. Sessionable, but not impressively easy. Has obstacles.

Tasty and nearly fulfilling. I give props.

Pours a dark black with thick head and heavy lacing.

Smells of roasted grain, chocolate, nuts

Tastes of lactose, chocolate, peanut butter and a slight sour finish, not too much chocolate and not too sweet

Moderately carbonated, not too heavy

Overall, good sweet chocolate stout, enough chocolate to be noticed but not take center stage. Roasted grains balance out the chocolate

Picked up a growler from The Bottle Shop on Passyunk ave. Poured into a small chalice, color is black, solid, head presents 1/2 inch thick, nice presence, some bubble froth on the glass, and a lingering ring with bubbles.

Smell is sweeter malt, some lactose, some chocolate, some light caramel and roast, moderate hop bitterness but no strong aroma, maybe some earthy malt/hop interplay lingering.

Taste is definitely chocolatey, sweeter malt, kind of hybrid english stout and sweet stout; malt flavors are mostly roast and chocolate, chocolate sweetness is pleasant, strength of brew compenstates well adding a lighter drying note to the brew; hops are present in bittering only, no distinguishable flavor.

Mouthfeel is pleasant, great flavor lingering on the tongue with some presence on the cheeks, solid carbonation level.

Overall, a very nice dryer sweet stout - starts sweet then dries out with the attenuation and bittering hops.

Pours a dark brown with ruby edges. The two big fingers of fluffy head dissipate rather quickly except for a thin layer of forth that hangs around for quite some time. The nose was reminiscent of wet cardboard. The body is light even for an English Stout. The chocolate is definitely present along with a touch of sweetness, but the standard stout qualities are simply not present in sufficient amount.

This offering ends with an odd sour note. This is really not that good of an effort.

P- Wegmans in Mechanicsburg

A- dark black opaque color. NIce 3 finger head that is tan and caramel colored. Very simple.

S- chocolate, toffee and caramel notes. They all complement each other well and it is strong in the toffee.

F- A sweet chocolate toffee type of flavor. I get the hints of vanilla which makes this very nice and smooth.

M- smooth and creamy stout that is a medium light bodied stout. I would expect it to be thicker but this is good.

O- great stout....well done.

A- deep black with a creamy cappuccino head. Decent head retention and lacing and the nitro makes the head quite creamy
S- subtle bordering on non existent. Just some slight roast notes
T- the taste is a little more substantial than the aroma would indicate, but it's mostly a subtle roast malt with a hint of an interesting chocolate flavor
M-silky smooth from the nitro head
O- an above average chocolate stout but lacking in any of the depth you'd expect from a stout
