750ml brown bottle with no freshness date.

Look: Towering head drops a lacing show, bright golden hue has a perfect clarity.

Smell: Rich aromas of clove, yeast, rose water, peppercorn, tropical fruit, and bread.

Taste & Feel: Very warming with a sturdy malt backbone, pineapple skin and Portuguese sweet bread come to mind. Peppery and spicy clove in the middle. Faint chalky yeast and dried fruit in the finish.

Very well put together, obviously the brewers behind this beer have a firm grasp on what Belgian brewing is all about. Way too much fun sipping on this one.

A - Three plus fingers worth of active cascading light airy bond white colored head comprised of huge chunky bubbles with a slightly rocky top... Really good retention... Turns a bit richer and creamier as it settles leaving a full veil of uniform lacing... Audibly fizzy... The color is a deep rich warm amber... A bit of lacing clings to the sides of the glass... A slight to moderate bit of slightly sluggish carbonation bubbles rise throughout while other bubbles choose just to cling to the sides of the glass...

S - A bit of potent muskiness right from the get go... Band aids... Some Belgian yeast notes and a light wheat presence are buried a bit beneath the surface... Hints of apple and pear... Perhaps a slight whiff of honey... Touches of white pepper and clove... Some light green grape notes as well...

T - Almost exactly as the nose would indicate... Musky... White grapes... The apple and pear are dial up a notch or two... Belgian yeast... Some enjoyable wheat notes... A very subtle spice presence...

M - Medium bodied... Sleek... Smooth... Dense... Limited carbonation... Even and consistent....

D - A very enjoyable Belgian Strong Pale Ale... There's lots of good stuff going on here, but nothing quit remarkable... Solid and enjoyable... A wonderful Belgian interpretation from the City of Brotherly love... Offerings like this and Trubbel De Yards are expanding my already lofty expectations for Yards...

Paid about 4 bucks for a hefty pint full of this goodness at the Allegheny six pack shop.

A - Color is a deep orange brown slightly hazy with just a 1/4 inch of head but great lacing.
S - Residual sugars, floral hops, and some malts giving it a apricot or peach smell very fruity.
T - Solvent alcohols do remind you this one is pushing almost 10% but it does give way to sugary malts, bubble gum like sweetness, and some hops to boot.
M - Medium and sort of heavy in body it took me 25 minutes to finish the glass.

Overall this was pretty exceptional for a Belgium ale very smooth for a strong pale. Almost close to true Belgium counterparts at a fraction of the cost.

Poured from a 750ml. Pours a slightly dark amber. Darker than one might expect for the style. It pours with a slight head which fades quickly leaving a white ring. Smells pretty good, with notes of citrus, probably lemon or orange. Light lacing around the glass. Filtered, so it has decent light penetration. Feels pretty good in the mouth, but can be a bit boozy. Overall a pretty decent cru, but definitely not the best out there. I would still definitely suggest this for a cold winder night or a snowball fight, as we did.
