Gift from the Easter Bunny this year. 750-mL capped bottle. Bottled on date is exactly one year ago today of 4/29/13.

Pours a cloudy pale golden with very nice white fluffy head. Good carbonation. Smells of typical Belgian yeast esters with some spice and peppery notes. As it warms, I get some candied fruit and cherry aromas. Tastes similar as aroma but with greasy wheat and probably some pilsner or pale malt. Tastes and feels a bit too chewy for a belgian. I think that's the main detractor here. If they dried this out some more, they'd have a real winner worthy of the Grand Cru title. Until then, this is a worthy beer to try.

This is a lot closer to a Belgian tripel, but still a superlative beer. Buttery sweet and smooth, hazy golden with initial high head. Slick mouthfeel, interesting finish. Lots of floral, haystack, a touch of spiciness. Pours with a nice high, fluffy head, and stays with the beer until the end.

Poured from a 750ml. Pours a slightly dark amber. Darker than one might expect for the style. It pours with a slight head which fades quickly leaving a white ring. Smells pretty good, with notes of citrus, probably lemon or orange. Light lacing around the glass. Filtered, so it has decent light penetration. Feels pretty good in the mouth, but can be a bit boozy. Overall a pretty decent cru, but definitely not the best out there. I would still definitely suggest this for a cold winder night or a snowball fight, as we did.

A - Three plus fingers worth of active cascading light airy bond white colored head comprised of huge chunky bubbles with a slightly rocky top... Really good retention... Turns a bit richer and creamier as it settles leaving a full veil of uniform lacing... Audibly fizzy... The color is a deep rich warm amber... A bit of lacing clings to the sides of the glass... A slight to moderate bit of slightly sluggish carbonation bubbles rise throughout while other bubbles choose just to cling to the sides of the glass...

S - A bit of potent muskiness right from the get go... Band aids... Some Belgian yeast notes and a light wheat presence are buried a bit beneath the surface... Hints of apple and pear... Perhaps a slight whiff of honey... Touches of white pepper and clove... Some light green grape notes as well...

T - Almost exactly as the nose would indicate... Musky... White grapes... The apple and pear are dial up a notch or two... Belgian yeast... Some enjoyable wheat notes... A very subtle spice presence...

M - Medium bodied... Sleek... Smooth... Dense... Limited carbonation... Even and consistent....

D - A very enjoyable Belgian Strong Pale Ale... There's lots of good stuff going on here, but nothing quit remarkable... Solid and enjoyable... A wonderful Belgian interpretation from the City of Brotherly love... Offerings like this and Trubbel De Yards are expanding my already lofty expectations for Yards...

750 ml bottle into a pint glass.

A: Pours a dark orange color. The head featured is an excellent 2-finger offwhite shade with really nice retention. Given its frothy texture, though, it doesn't really leave much lacing on the glass.

S: There are some really nice apple and pear notes from the yeast. Pale malts and candied sugar make a nicely subtle backing to the fruit esters. I even pick up some peach and apricot notes as it warms up. I really like how fruity the aroma is.

T: ...and the flavor is just as fruity. There are tons of apple, pear, pineapple, peach, and apricot flavors from the fruit esters. I don't pick up much pale malts or hop bitterness; this is dominated by fruitiness. Hell, it even comes across as 'juicy'. For 10%, there isn't much alcohol presence at all.

M: Despite the sweet flavors, this one is relatively light and crisp. No alcohol can really be felt on the palate. I'd like about 10% more carbonation, but otherwise, I can't complain about the mouthfeel too much.

O: I really like this. I'd even suggest this deserves a bit more hype. While it's too sweet to be a proper Duvel clone, the fruit notes are too wonderful for me to care that much.
