Date of visit: 12.23.2010

This was the third time I've been to the tasting room at Yards. Got there a little after noon and there were already 4 other patrons inside. Since it was a working day I saw some cleaning being done on some of the tanks as well as the bottling line moving. The whole place had the awesome smell of beer being brewed.

We brought with us a sample of some homebrew since we were told by them last time that it if you homebrew bring it when you visit a brewery. I highly recommend doing this as the staff was excited to try it and offered critiques and compliments.

Along with the Ales of the Revolution and the yearly Yards offerings on tap they also had Trubble de Yards, Love Stout and a Bourbon Barrel George Washington Porter. The food is not your standard bar food but instead some high quality soups and grilled cheese sandwiches. For desert they also have fudge and Tasty-cakes.

The tasting room is very spacious with a large clean-looking bar with plenty of seats. There are a few booths as you walk in and tables scattered throughout also provide adequate seating. As the day grew later more patrons showed up perhaps making a little bit much for the staff to keep up with.

Overall the Yards tasting room is one of the best around to grab a few pints and have some good food and conversation with the guys who make it. I highly recommend taking one of their tours on a Saturday and if you can go for lunch on a weekday to get a little more personal relaxed experience.

SonofKron disapproves. The beer tastes like grass flavored urine. Awful

Great tour, good beer, and decent food trucks. Parking sucked as per Philly.

Selection varies by season. Limited food selection. Kind of small so weekends are very busy. Tour is pretty cool and you can drink during it. Nice people to talk to. Actually ran into Tom Kehoe when I was down there. Easy to get to from Spring Garden on the MFL subway. Love this place!

Went on a trip to Philly with some friends and we had to stop in here to check it out and see what it was all about. It was very busy and took a little while to get to the bar and order some drafts, but once we got our beers and found a table I really warmed up to the place. The music was excellent, The Smiths and New Order and R.E.M. seemed to be on constant rotation, there was a pool table which my friends had fun with, excellent beer of course (as you'll see in my reviews I think the Jefferson Tavern Ale is absolutely fantastic), and friendly people all around. We ended up having a nice conversation with complete strangers at the table next to us. That's really what a pub should be all about, bringing people together to enjoy great beer and great company. I'll be sure to come back here the next time I make it up to Philly. (Note: I don't know if they had food or not. I didn't really pay attention as I was mostly excited about the beer.)

Stopped by on a Saturday. Great feel with many people sitting at tables enjoying the beer. They had over a dozen different beers on tap. Three flights allowed us to try each one.

We did the brewery tour and it was fun. They even included beer samples along the way! The staff was very informative.

I liked the limited release beers. But overall I am a fan of Yards. Food trucks provided food. I didn't eat but the food looked good. If you are in the area this is a must-visit brewery.

100% wind powered brewery. Very cool tasting room. Bar is made from recycled bowling lane wood. Tour is approx. 45 mins long with a few samples. Went on a Sunday and the kitchen wasn't open; had to get food from a food truck parked outside. Beers were decent.
