I'm writing this review as if this was Central State brewing, not just the place to get their tasty beer. It's a super cool spot and they do amazing collabs and probably have the most national scene credit of any Indy brewery. On my visit, they only had one bartender and he got absolutely crushed by a 20 plus birthday party. None of them seemed like they had ever had a beer and demanded he explain each and every beer over and over again. He still made time to talk to me and ask me a few questions. That goes a long way in my book.

This place is insulting. Rude, pretentious, over the top bothered by questions. Draft Magazine named it among the top 100 beer bats in the country which makes me want to cancel me subscription. Unbelievable. Seriously. I get what they are trying to do with the beer and it would be really good if the people didn't treat you like an idiot for asking to describe each one. Seriously. Just skip it. Indy has much more to offer.

This was a really good beer bar. First off, vibe- very small space. 3 or 4 tables and a bar with 10 seats. Different than any place I've been. Minimally lit. Very clean. they do play some heavy medal. Still not my thing at all(points off for that) Not terribly loud though. Quality- beers were poured well, glass clean, nice selection of glassware on hand, beers were clean. Service- was excellent. The bartender knew the beer well, poured well, and with so few places to check on, had no problem checking back regularly. Also the owners were hanging out there for a bit too, something that seems like happens frequently. Selection- had 4 beers from the mother brewery central state 3 of which were delicious. Also 5-6 other guest taps which seemed well selected. Bottles available(bottles you'd be interested to ask about). Wine available too. Overall, I'd be thrilled to the marrow to be able to live in this neighborhood and be able to walk in there and grab a beer anytime. The little market next door has sandwiches available that you could take in with you. (Gelato too) The have a real nice setup here.

Owned by the same folks as Central State Brewing, The Koelschip is a nice spot to grab a beer. They always have Central State's delicious brett beers on tap (and also offer cans to go). The rest of the tap lists tends to showcase some more eclectic offerings (they have a dedicated Ritterguts Gose tap). Cool spot.

This is a tremendous place to get a beer. Their own beers are impressive. And their offerings from other breweries are often extraordinary. I got to try my first Cantillon here (Kriek Lambic) here, and their wall of options generally includes a couple real finds.

Definitely one of the best places to drink in Indy. Plus you can bring in food from Goose the Market next door.
